Deep Purple Last Concert in Japan
Voto:
mmm... I like this live very little... actually... almost nothing... the period with Bolin even less... he played almost perfectly... but he lacks that something that was present in Made in Japan... there’s no drive... everything feels cold... Bolin's performances started to show the effects of addiction almost immediately after this album... I read somewhere that due to a bad shot he couldn’t play the guitar and canceled the scheduled concert... moreover, Highway Star was always badly mangled...

They are at risk of becoming one of my favorite groups... but do you have any work to recommend to me besides this collection?
Lou Reed New York
Voto:
beautiful record...even though I prefer Transformer by Reed...New York will be your dream and Lou Reed without New York wouldn't have been the same...but it's always from New York that the urban discomfort of the Velvet Underground comes...that's their greatness...but I don't think old Lou lived all that well in the Big Apple...

I get it... I generally agree with you... but if you read my comment a bit higher, you'll see that the issue is still another one... so... the Afterhours are gaining quite a bit of traction in the popular scene (in the sense that a lot of people are discovering them... people like maybe my schoolmates, just to give you an example... people whose musical tastes I guarantee you XD) by playing beautiful, sincere, and genuine music, with lyrics that aren't exactly the average of the most prominent Italian music right now (I don’t like to say commercial)... in short... if they keep going like this, they could show that they can reach the "mass" without much help from the media and thus demonstrate some style... Agnelli will do it more out of curiosity than anything else, I believe... but Sanremo isn’t a serious event... it’s subculture... it’s more business than music... I know it sounds rhetorical... but it’s unfortunately the truth... and I can't say I'm happy to see the Afterhours on the festival list... that’s all... I hope I've made myself clear...

@cptgaio...for goodness' sake...going to Sanremo is their choice and probably a consequence of the path they've taken...but I don’t know...I just can't accept it...it's not even about being manipulated-selling yourself-not being yourself anymore...it's just the fact that they're going to Sanremo...I would have never expected that from Agnelli...PS...if they had done the festival in 1995, they would have brought a destabilizing piece...the problem is that in 1995 they would have never gone to Sanremo (at least I think) XD

I completely agree, Franci... I also wrote above that not all "artists" are willing to debate on a site like this or, in general... I was very surprised that Pier Paolo Capovilla intervened so spontaneously like any other user to respond to criticism on a website... he, who would have been more than entitled to ignore it... it really pleased me... I would love to see and participate more often in exchanges of ideas between artists and audiences...

Thank you so much, Franci :)... I've only listened to the tracks on MySpace and it took me a while to really get into them... but now I want to get the album... I too haven't discovered the beautiful Italian music scene for long, so I'm not that experienced... what pp says (whom I admire for getting involved here on Debaser, and it would be great if this happened more often :)) resonates with me... I admit the After a bit disappointed me with their choice to go to Sanremo... I'm sure they'll keep going their own way and won't let themselves be manipulated... but I thought I had finally found the right band that was managing (and is still managing) to become more and more popular without any particular media push and instead... meh... I will always respect them anyway... @icnarf... Marlene at Sanremo? Did I miss something... XD

I admit, however, that I don't understand anything about Latin because I've never studied it... if I knew it, it might leave me with a different impression...

This book, however, didn't help me much... well-written... perhaps too much... but it didn't manage to leave an impression on me... maybe it also affects the fact that I read it for school and I usually don't take these things kindly... :)
