This album is as elaborate, well-arranged, and atmospheric as it is BORING. And I’ve listened to it a ton of times because I thought it would "grow with the listens"; it does grow, yes, but my frustration grows even more. Idle Blood is horrendous then. The others are either exceptional or of good quality, individually speaking. I also have the impression that Jonas’s voice has lost that "magic"; in the previous two albums, it was truly hypnotic, here it sounds the same, but the effect it produces is not the same. It's a shame because this album had the potential to become the best of Katatonia.

"The frames of the film run lightly like the steps of a ballerina, and yet sharp like small shards of glass clenched in the palm of a hand." I found it to be the opposite of what you say here; that's why I didn't like it—too, too pompous, artificial, and above all gratuitous. The subject is interesting, and the themes it develops are too; it’s a shame that the end result is cloying. A film like this would want/should be a psychological torture, not a hymn to special effects. Kitsch in general.

Perfect, you’re 34 years old and I feel sorry for you, but that analysis, just by browsing a bit on the internet and based on what I know from the '80s and '90s, I could have written it too, in fact, even a random idiot who doesn’t know a damn thing could have written it. It really looks like a middle school project, and not even a good one, by the way. I wasn’t being arrogant; I just dared to question your age (you know how it is, it's not like I check the author’s profile for everything I read here). Should I keep my opinions to myself, you should do the same with your articles. Bye.

"Don't worry about the criticism, for many the Nirvana and Guns association will send shivers down their spine; in reality, there's much more than one reason to associate them, and to connect the grunge scene with the early Guns from Appetite..." Sure, the point of contact is definitely there if we consider the bands for the influence they had on the masses, but this guy here said that grunge was influenced (even heavily, it seems) by street rock, and I find that untrue, at least for most of the bands. Above all, it seems to me like an analysis done in a school essay style by someone who didn't live through those times in the places where they should have been experienced to discuss them now.

But how old are you? If you're older than me, I’m sorry, but you really come across as ignorant. Besides the "historical" analysis, which is chilling, you also spew some nonsense (I’d love to know what Cobain would have thought about the influence the Guns had on him as attributed by you). You wrote a series of clichés that can be found in any article, print or online. You were like me in the '90s: too little :)

I don't know, I always remain a bit perplexed by the saintly air that has been attributed to Radiohead; it’s not a matter of votes, but of visits to the review. I’ve only listened to it once; it’s obvious it needs to be listened to again to be fully absorbed, but it seems to me that, even with growth, a masterpiece cannot simply become one. In short, it’s a nice little disc. The problem is that last year (and this year too) there were some beautiful works (more than this one) that went largely unnoticed (Women, one name) or were poorly recognized (Liars, another name)... for heaven's sake, I haven't exactly done much to ensure they were recognized; it’s just a damn observation. The same old story: the "alternative" band puts out a record every four years (which can be nice, okay) and everyone listens to it and pays attention, while other people create equally beautiful records and nobody talks about them at all. I don’t know, let’s see if in 2015 Radiohead will create another mess like this.

Your scathing reviews are my favorite :D Regarding metal, even though it's not really my field, I think ale9to is right, but the releases from the 90s are also my favorites, precisely because of these fusions, even if they don’t really push forward a new way of playing metal or any other subgenres. Maybe a little bit that movement called "post," that might be the only true modern metal genre.
AA.VV. Sanremo 2011

I watched the first evening out of curiosity, practically forced to do so, and I was very disappointed with the La Crus piece; I expected something completely different. I found Vecchioni's song too "old inside" and it seemed to me to have practically all the stereotypes of the Italian singer-songwriter genre from the '70s. And in 2011, that’s not great. Besides, I won’t even discuss it, not because I didn't follow it well, but because I really don't care about Sanremo.

Not to mention the "thread" that ties the record together, creepy, okay, I too went through a phase when I first got ADSL and started downloading loads of records at full speed that I would then listen to only once, but indeed, it’s a phase, then you start to learn how to use the internet and you really appreciate the downloaded records. Those who don’t listen carefully to the downloaded (or bought) records are people who don’t love music but just like to pretend they have a certain kind of taste to be trendy. For example, without the internet, I would have had to buy this record to listen to it, and it would have pissed me off and I would have been angry. I don’t know, the themes of this record seem to me like something a Japanese fighter would tackle. Maybe it’s because all the music lovers I know (not many, though) buy their records original, myself included. :D
