bjork68... I absolutely agree, even though the review isn't one of the most unreadable I've encountered on debaser. But, excuse me... you contradict yourself when you say that with Pausini's album you can curse. So, you also judge based on taste and not just technically... a Pausini album is definitely the most commercial thing in the world, but some people like it, and maybe she believes in what she does. This doesn't give you the right to treat her like the lowest of fools. You can speak poorly, even very poorly, about an album, but never (in my opinion, not even with people like J.Ax or Paolo Meneguzzi) should you sink into vulgarity. It's such a childish thing!

come on, for real. she's been selling records for decades... and with the latest greatest hits, she probably filled her pockets a bit! anyway, the fact remains that she doesn’t seem like the kind of person... she doesn’t even wash, let alone care about having money!

It's true, Patti's group has always been very capable, and you certainly can't say they sound bad... however, the feeling is that they remain anchored to a rock 'n' roll that's a bit unoriginal melodically (and why not, harmonically as well). You don't need to know how to read sheet music to detect a certain repetitiveness in the sound solutions on albums like 'Trampin' or 'Gung Ho' (due, of course, to the fact that the focus is on the lyrics rather than musical virtuosities). Aside from that, I don't think Patti Smith needs a cover album to boost sales or follow trends: she doesn't necessarily need it, and I don't believe she's that kind of artist. So, if the lady has released this album, she may have done so for a more valid reason than just a simple lack of ideas.

@punisher: when I evaluate a review, I picture reading it in a magazine. It's obvious that some expressions come off as unprofessional... I'm not outraged by 2 vulgarities, of course, but for personal taste, I don’t like reading them in a review. That's all. Probably without those, I would have given you 4.

@ morgan: I didn't say that I don't like her voice... I adore it! I'm just saying that she's not famous for how she sings and her vocal talents have never been the main part of her art... she was born as a writer and poet, and it’s the lyrics that made her important in musical history. That's it...

you’re probably right. I don’t know the album, but Patti Smith isn’t an interpreter; she’s not famous for her voice! If your best skill is writing songs and then you come out with a cover album, there’s reason to worry... in any case, in my opinion, her decline started a long, long time ago (let’s say since the production of the nineties...). the review is also well written, but certain slips like 'arrangiamenti alla cazzo' and 'minchia' clearly lower the rating... what a shame!

I don't completely agree... the album is certainly too varied, to the detriment of a defined identity that has never been lacking until now (even in the last, criticized works). However, some tracks (for me more than half) from this new album far exceed expectations and enjoy 'playing' with the many facets that this artist has created over the years. For me, as a fan, it was a welcome return to the past.

Well, the day after I saw Justin Timberlake at the Datch Forum, and, as usual in that place, the sound was an incredible mess... I assure you that compared to Tori's, it was top-notch!!!
