ah... about Tarantino: he’s post-modern, but in my opinion, he’s been mimicking himself for too long, and if he’s not out of fashion yet, it’s because, like Infascelli (I don’t want to compare them, for heaven’s sake!), there are plenty of teenagers who find him entertaining, colorful, and original. His best shots were fired in the film that is the least 'different' of all, 'Jackie Brown.' Just my opinion, mind you, and no absolutisms... I was just pointing it out to Alex :-)

It's true, not ONLY... you're right. But using the camera with awareness and not just for sheer aesthetic pleasure, I think, is something positive, right? Gondry’s debut (Human Nature or something like that) was a colossal flop precisely because it played with aesthetics and special effects without any reason. When, with 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind', he started to use the artistry he is capable of to connect with what he wanted to say, he produced a masterpiece! Anyway, about Infascelli, I just meant that it’s easy to succeed when you aim for certain stylistic solutions, original only because they target an audience that doesn’t know the cinema of the '70s and '80s. I repeat: it's very clever. A bit like the Scissor Sisters covering the Bee Gees in 2000 and taking over the dance floor...

cornell we really get along, especially since I also love the result of all that yelling from our chris! there’s no point in insisting, then, that a singer who can’t sing songs he himself has written is a bit like a guitarist who can’t play his own solo... instead, let’s move on to an interesting question: whatever happened to jon deleo (who live lost almost half the range he had in the studio)? I really don’t know, and I would love to find out!

I was always taught that a director is good if they use the camera in an essential way, placing it in a certain spot because that’s where it naturally belongs. When Hitchcock used optical distortions, it wasn’t to add a touch of psychedelia, but to convey the protagonist’s state of mind in the scene. Infascelli is the classic director for teenagers, who see many colors and stylistically original solutions and shout genius... without realizing that often his solutions are mere ends in themselves. Ah Alex! Post-modern cinema has been out of fashion for about a decade!

Cornell, I too have tried to sing his songs for a long time, then I realized that it's pointless to search for a scratch similar to someone else's at the expense of one's natural talents or by filtering oneself with a liter of whiskey a day. I understood that he has mistreated his voice for years, shouting as much as he could and achieving inhuman results, but the fact that he now finds himself unable to do certain things means that, instead of using his voice well and with good technique, he has pushed himself to the limits of his abilities, even compromising himself physically. This is not professional. A singer is not good if they can reach higher notes than others without using falsetto! Everyone has their own natural range, which depends on physical capabilities; the intelligence lies in making the best use of one's voice, which does not mean pushing oneself to the limit of one's possibilities. It means refining the nuances and technique within the notes that one is naturally inclined to sing! The fact that he had to undergo surgery means he has always sung in the wrong way, and there's no escaping that! That the results were excellent is undeniable. But isn’t Tom Waits an excellent interpreter as well, without hitting high notes? I’m sure that by the end of his concerts, he can still say goodbye. ;-)

In the same vein, the true revelation of Italian cinema is Matteo Garrone, a filmmaker who really knows how to play with genres and doesn't angle the camera just because it looks good for a music video!

Over the years, the voice changes, it doesn't deteriorate. It's up to the singer's intelligence to understand how to best adapt to the changes, and frankly, a forty-something still screaming rock like he did at twenty comes off as a bit ridiculous. But heaven forbid I say he isn't good—he’s incredibly talented, but not very smart in my opinion... sing the songs he writes for an hour, and if you manage to speak the next day, consider yourselves lucky...

Chris Cornell is not one of the most beautiful voices in rock! Or rather... he is on the records, but live he struggles a lot to sing his (very difficult) songs! If he lowered them by half a tone, he would definitely look better... By the way, some say his (abused) vocal cords undergo surgery every five years to save themselves from the abuse this man puts them through... That said, musically I have always appreciated his music, and even though I haven't listened to the album yet, I believe I will like it. As usual...
