We had talked about Andrea Parodi's illness in another review. It was unlikely that he would make it, which is heartbreaking. However, it must be said that he faced this terrible ordeal in a remarkable way. He continued to work, sing, and make plans until the very end, with enthusiasm and strength. I heard him in concert in August; he was smiling.

In the face of Lucio Dalla... A few years ago, I happened to hear one of their concerts in a theater. A place, therefore, quite different from the usual L'Unità festivals. They were with a lineup rich in musicians (many wind instruments) and offered a "fusion" (sorry for the forced term) version of their classic sounds. But from the stage, they only requested one song, insisting on "El pueblo unido jamas serà vencido." At the end of the concert, they gave in and sang it, but they didn’t seem very happy about it. Dear, I can't help it if you've formed these impressions about my words, but as I already said, I’m not interested in discussing this topic; I just want to express myself as I believe. Can I? In this case, talking about a lack of originality seems more appropriate – in fact, I did – reserving the verb "to copy" for other artists. Because in my opinion, BPB does not copy, does not replicate, but evokes, just as John Martyn did (if you're not familiar with him, check out "Solid Air," dedicated to Drake; it's a very beautiful album, worth it), reconnecting mainly to the general stylistic elements of folk, which do not belong exclusively to Nick Drake. Additionally, for me, beyond the musical background, the personal interpretive contribution of the musician is important, which in this case seems to be present. In other words: to copy and/or replicate does not simply mean to lack originality for me, but to reproduce in a pedantic way without adding personal contributions to the work. Sorry for the language, but that's how it is. After all, someone once said that those who speak badly, think badly, and live badly. Haloa ;)

Masterpiece. Hard to comment on, hard to review, but you did an excellent job, Grass; perhaps it’s one of the most beautiful reviews you've written.

Paolo Fresu / Uri Caine Things
Voto:
As I mentioned the other day, I've seen Fresu in concert many times with different formations, some concerts I liked more, like the one with guitarist Nguyen Le, but I have yet to attend one where I didn't feel involved. After all, I think it also depends on the venues where the concerts are held. Regarding Bollani, I feel in agreement with primiballi; on the other hand, the live dimension is generally the ideal one for these musicians, and I believe this also applies to Caine, who is extraordinary live. Regards and gracias a todos :)

Great review, I agree with primiballi and kosmo, haha the sneeze cover made me laugh, very true, in the September issue there's an interview with ramblin' jack elliott where the interviewer says "we heard Lyle Lovett an hour ago, he said to say hi," maybe he lives in the Buscadero office ;) But I understand that maybe his marriage has opened the doors to a different audience. Bye :)

Sorry, but I don't understand the reason behind your words. If avoiding to speak or write like a goat means being serious, maybe you're a bit confused. There are many ways to express oneself; in this case, I wanted to highlight that talking about mere copying is probably nonsense [a load of crap? is that better? approved? shall we light it up? :)]. I used nouns, adjectives, and verbs in the Italian language. Others might have used different epithets, which I believe are less effective, useful, and sensible, but to each their own. In any case, I would have preferred to continue talking about this album rather than about forms and expressive modalities that everyone should freely choose for themselves. Haloa :)

Well... the accounting of the votes interests me little. The substance is more interesting: "copying" seems to me an improper or careless verb, if you prefer. Even though I have also highlighted the lack of originality in a proper sense, I believe this album has value nonetheless. After all, I don't believe much in "firsts." However, we have different feelings about the "monocord," and there is little more to say about that. Haloa
