I scanned the tracks during a fleeting and insignificant listen, and those who heard it talked about it as a nice album. It's set aside; I will listen to it with the necessary calm and desire.

Thanks again to everyone and a clarification. I want to emphasize a concept: we must be careful not to confuse the areas, thinking that these operations can be assimilated to other readings of the "classic" of a completely different nature. Here, the classic becomes a starting point to reach the "contemporary," as evidenced by the fact that Caine's first work in this field was praised at the time by the connoisseurs of "classical," recognizing in his music a "contemporary classic." Luciano Berio himself praised this operation, and not by chance did "Primal Light" receive the Toblacher Komponierhäuschen award in 1997, usually given to more traditional operations. Furthermore, "Primal Light" has been excellently reviewed by classical music magazines worldwide; in Italy, it seems to me that "Amadeus" covered it. So, in reality, the attention of the tradition and classical aficionados for the innovation of these works by Caine has been high and positively acknowledged in the past. As for where to find these CDs, I couldn't tell you, thirdeye; my local pusher is quite efficient, so I have no problems. However, I believe it's possible to have them sent to any store. Alternatively, if you want to use the internet for your search, you can try the Debaser store; I've done it a couple of times, and it worked. Otherwise, there's always Amazon, where you can ultimately find everything, including this album. Bye :)

I had said I would stop by, so here I am. This review is very interesting for me because I always pay a lot of attention to Caine's projects and I had missed this one, but I will definitely check it out, also because from your description it really seems like an album that’s perfect for me in every way: musicians, context, themes, genres, etc.

Honestly, this album seemed a bit bland to me.

I love your vision of Teresa Salgueiro; I, too, was struck by a track from this album and for many years I listened to MadreDeus a lot. Today, however, as I mentioned in other pages in here, they don't captivate me like they used to. I saw them live in Prato a few years ago, a beautiful concert for sure, but the group's lineup had already changed and the charm of the voice wasn't enough for me. Bye.

Sorry for the delay, debasers, I've just returned after an intense day, gracias :) Two quick things before I dive into the arms of Morpheus who is waiting eagerly. First: I was hesitant to send this review because I thought it was excessively long, but I decided to send it anyway because this album deserves some attention. It was difficult to cut it down since each track stands out on its own in an album that ultimately felt like a true excursus around Mozart, a journey best enjoyed in its entirety. 'Round about Mozart captures the idea, and indeed it is the title of the concert where Caine first performed these transfigured pieces live. Second thing: a quick mention of other Caine albums as requested by morningstar (I'll read about the album with John Zorn tomorrow, I'm too tired right now). Be careful not to confuse these efforts with different reinterpretations; in Caine's case, the tradition is the starting point for aimless journeys, the sample I think illustrates this well. Among the "classical" works, besides this one, I would highly recommend the Goldberg Variations. The projects with Schumann and Beethoven were less successful. Wagner and Venice, however, is a masterpiece. But above all (both classical and otherwise), for me there’s Urlicht: primal light dedicated to Mahler, an album that it’s rationally possible to go crazy for: indispensable and extremely important. In the non-classical sphere, I’ll mention the ones I’ve listened to most, in random order: Uri Caine - Solitaire (solo piano with a nice version of Blackbird); Uri Caine & Bedrock: Shelf-Life (this one is grand!! ironic and fun also for the theme: a homage to the music of 70s TV shows. Recommended); finally, Sphere Music, a more "classical" album useful for looking back in time before the advent of winter & winter, beautiful but less sparkling. Goodnight :))
