If you mean the double at the Einaudi scale, I got it a while ago, Frantz, and it’s really nice, but all in all, it adds very little to Einaudi's story. After all, it’s just the live performance of his works plus a few gems. If you already have "I giorni" and "Eden Roc," you might find it superfluous. I heard Rava’s new one on Saturday, and it’s definitely worth getting; I also added it to my collection :) The one by Marsalis (which one?) slipped my mind, though; I await your insights. This one by Stern is worth it anyway. Listen to the samples, or if you happen to listen to the album, pay attention to "Avenue b." I really like it a lot. We’re all in agreement on Pat Metheny (how nice). As for the review... who knows, you might be right. After all, I wrote it and sent it, and the "quid" maybe didn’t arrive in time. I'm trying not to think about it too much to leave space for spontaneity. Cheers.

Come on Francesco, admit that you got lost in reading a "NOT." You tell me that I accuse Stern of copying, and that is absolutely not true. My sentence says "NOT means that we are facing a vulgar copying operation." It is indeed true that "music evolves and Mike recalls, does not copy..." I completely agree with you. It's one thing to assert the existence of copying, but it's another to say that maximum originality has not been achieved. And that is what I am arguing. It is undeniable that we are in front of a nice album, which, however, does not innovate, does not amaze, indeed. Not that it’s an unbearable flaw. It’s not always necessary, but since you know Stern’s history well, you also know that he has always been considered a musician looking ahead. An innovator par excellence. Perhaps from the greats, one always expects something more. If this album had been signed by someone else, I might have given it a 5. That means my judgment could be a bias, but it's very small and even benevolent. Thanks for the nice comments, and see you soon. :D

As for the fact that Pat Metheny has disappointed a bit at some moments in his career, I completely agree with you. Bye

Recently discovered thanks to the characters that animate debaser, now I just need to "dive deeper" into the discussion. So the review, which I find simply perfect, arrives at the most opportune moment. Thx

Sorry Francesco, but you misread (and quite a bit) what I wrote. I invite you to read it again. Bye

I don't know where to start, Francesco; it kind of depends on your tastes. Maybe there are musical instruments you prefer over others (piano, guitar, sax...). However, The Koln Concert by Keith Jarrett (ECM-1975) would be a good place to begin; everyone should have that album. You can find some titles in this forum (http://www.de-baser.com/viewmsg.asp?msgid=2986). As for Stern's age, I believe he was born in 1953. He’s no longer a kid, but I love the image of Peter Pan that you’ve given him, K., and perhaps his “neverland” is the guitar school in Los Angeles where he teaches from time to time. I think Janis would like it, while it’s not exactly Rocky's style, but you never know. As for nick lupin :))... before I host you, I’ll make sure to buy a CD shelf with locked doors :D
