I've seen him in concert countless times, but I've never paid this much. Once, I even went to the Teatro Margherita in Genoa to see him, it was beautiful. Anyway, I don't know what could determine the price of the concert. Francesco, I prefer "Madame Bovary" and "Parnassius" from the second period (what a beautiful cover, do you know the story of the butterfly?). I found "D'amore morte e altre sciocchezze" too full of resentment (four rags) and some songs, including "Cyrano," didn't seem entirely fitting to me. I remember a dedication to Bonvi on that record, with whom Guccini had written a script for a comic... as soon as I remember the title, I'll let you know... it was a kind of parody of Star Wars, hilarious... damn, how much I'm rambling :D bye.

Here are the lyrics (http://ec.eurecom.fr/~giorcell/Guccini/testi.html) and Venice was facing the sea (ah, memory slips away evidently :). Also read the lyrics of "Piccola storia ignobile." Many frame Guccini as a political singer, and for some songs that's definitely true, but there are so many intimate, beautiful pieces. Maybe he's a bit tired now, maybe his creative vein is running dry, and for a while, Guccini has been expanding his horizons as a writer and a scholar of dialects. But then again, it's normal to feel some fatigue after so many years; you should read an interview with Paolo Conte (who is dedicating himself to painting) in the Venerdì di Repubblica from about a month ago... well, I'll stop here. Bye.

There are countless classic albums by Guccini. Here you can find the discography link rotto However, I would listen to the older albums first. Up until 1990. I really love "via paolo fabbri 43," "radici," "metropolis" (Venezia che muore, venezia appoggiata sul mare...), and "opera buffa" (the "talkin' sul sesso" is splendid). Otherwise, the live album "fra la via emilia e il west" is a great summary of his history. I also couldn't stand his voice at first, but gradually I learned to listen to him, and I assure you that some songs are wonderful, especially because he truly manages to paint with words. One example is the song Incontro, which for me is one of the most beautiful: "E correndo mi incontrò lungo le scale, quasi nulla mi sembrò cambiata in lei, la tristezza poi ci avvolse come miele per il tempo scivolato su noi due ...." bye!

Hehe ... sooner or later who knows if someone will think of it. It has nothing to do with it, but I believe that someone might be interested to know that on Sunday, March 21, and Monday, March 22, an unprecedented jazz formation will perform at the Teatro Argentina in Rome composed of: Paolo Fresu (on trumpet), Marco di Gennaro (on piano), Fabrizio Sferra (drummer of the legendary Doctor 3), Ares Tavolazzi (on bass), and finally on sax a young kid ... Lee Konitz (!!). Regards.

Thank you, Francesco. Anyway, I went to the website you mentioned, but I didn't sign up for the mailing list; I should create a dedicated email account, otherwise my inbox will explode :) For now, I've bookmarked it, especially for the useful concert recommendations for Metheny. I saw Bollani last month, and for me, he truly is a great. His latest album is beautiful (to me), at the Blue Note in New York he made quite an impression (they say), and he really challenged himself with the show "Guarda che luna" (I must say, Rava and Pietropaoli too). In short, he’s talented and also super nice. It's just a pity that he cut his dreadlocks :) I can't judge Roberto Gatto technically (after all, you're the drummer :), but every time I've seen him in concert, I've always liked him. He is also now a veteran of jazz made in Italy. Bye.

Um, I almost forgot Frantz, back to Metheny, we agree on the disappointment (live, I can't say...) and Travels is definitely a beautiful album, worth recommending, but what I love the most is Bright Size Life, maybe also for the presence of Pastorius.

First of all, well done on the choice, because Guccini was missing. If you hadn't done it, I would have written the review myself. But I still need to get the CD. Secondly, I have a question for you. Are all the lyrics of the songs his, or did he collaborate with any other authors? It seems to me that in Parnassius and in "d'amore di morte e altre sciocchezze" he had worked with other authors for the lyrics. Also, I wanted to know who else plays on this album besides Vince Tempera and Flaco Biondini. Are the beloved Antonio Marangolo and Ellade Bandini still involved? Bye.

Francesco? Who was he playing with in Rome on Thursday? Bollani and Pietropaoli? Why don't you tell us about the concert? Come on. Bye.
