The heretical Livornese Piero Ciampi, a bitter poet, ironic, intelligent. Yes, you are right, let's remember him.

Another album to listen to carefully, but the first impressions weren't bad; an intimate work... but I perhaps preferred the PJ of "stories..."

I haven't seen the movie, but after reading Turk's comment, I'm not too regretful, because reading his de-collection convinced me that I should blindly trust his tastes ;) I quite like the folk implosion, but from how you describe the album, it doesn't really appeal to me, so I'll pass. Bye!

I know it's relevant to a certain extent to the review, but I would like to remind you that the pietas expressed in the songs was also very much present in De André's daily life. There are many examples; among them, I recall his closeness to Luigi Tenco, of whom he was a friend. De André was one of the few singers to attend his funeral, and on that occasion he said, "When we arrived in Sanremo the other day, there was no one to comfort that poor brother. Not a single singer sent a flower." Then he wrote for him one of his most beautiful songs, "Preghiera in Gennaio." If you get a chance, listen to it while imagining Tenco's "labbra smorte."

I recognized the cover, I listened to it a while ago, but I can't remember a single note; evidently, it didn't resonate with me :)) If I come across it again, I'll give it a better listen and let you know what I think.

Last month I listened to it again. It's a short album, but filled with reflections, tensions, and emotions that leave a void inside. The lyrics are heavy, containing accusations, invectives, but it’s not the poet who formulates them; he actually does nothing but hold up a mirror to society so it can look at itself and perhaps feel ashamed... maybe. In this mirror, he gathers the voices of the downtrodden, the defeated, who often have no words and rarely show mercy (Banchieri, pizzicagnoli, notai, /coi ventri obesi e le mani sudate /coi cuori a forma di salvadanai /noi che invochiam’ pietà fummo traviate. /Navigammo su fragili vascelli /per affrontar del mondo la burrasca /ed avevamo gli occhi troppo belli: / che la pietà non vi rimanga in tasca.). Although the songs are also musically beautiful, the arrangements of the album are perhaps the only limitation of the work. Dated and sometimes baroque (I think of the use of the trumpet and in some parts of the orchestration by Gianfranco Reverberi), they situate the music in its time, while the themes raised escape the passage of years and unfortunately do not age.

I was just listening to it again and I have to say that musically, I find it unsettling at times. It’s a nice album nonetheless. Insidious, the adjective Josi uses, fits perfectly. I’ve included three samples for those who aren’t familiar with the album. Bye.

I initially found Neurosis & Jarboe difficult, but then it won me over; I love Tabba's definition, as well as Steve Von Till's in the review. Thank you for the recommendation 3pounds of love.

I know it's a mistake, but sometimes I struggle to separate the man from the artist, so thinking of Bertrand Cantat I can no longer listen to this album, too bad because it wasn't bad.

A strange record, because it came out after electro shock blues, a dark and painful work. In fact, if I remember correctly, it begins with a sad music that seems to reconnect to the previous work before gradually fading away. But will this album really be so serene? Knowing Mr. E, I have some doubts. Perhaps we should analyze the lyrics a bit to understand. I don't know... About the review. In my opinion, Rohan, you should write a bit less but better; you should focus on quality rather than quantity. After all, you show that you have something to say. If you dedicate more time and attention to your reviews, it's likely that you'll manage to get your voice heard. Welcome.
