Brian De Palma Vestito Per Uccidere (Dressed To Kill)

Indeed, I wasn't joking, El Guevo, and I must have explained myself poorly. Black Dahlia is not just a mediocre film for me; it's a downright mess. I confess that in the cinema, watching the evolution of the narrative structure and the actors' expressions, I literally burst out laughing more than once. I had read about a tribute to the "noir" genre, but it didn't even have a whiff of "noir." I'm glad you find it beautiful, so feel free to say you like it and even use the word masterpiece; I won't be offended. However - you will have to excuse me - this doesn't change my strongly negative opinion about the film as a whole. I will also continue to think that De Palma is an overrated director by many and that his best films are elevated by outstanding performances from the actors (like Pacino, for instance). But sometimes that's not enough. Doppia personalità, for example, I saw in the cinema back in the day, and I remember it as a ridiculous film; watching it more than once would be masochism for me, but I understand we have differing opinions on the matter, and I trust in your understanding. The only thing that disappoints me is not being far from Scaruffi's opinions, but anything can happen in life. Bye.

First of all, I apologize for the duplicate. I must have missed Saltuario's review (I will read it) and I must have made a mistake in searching the debaser database before sending my review, because I couldn't find it. If I had seen that it was already present, I wouldn't have submitted it. As for your responses, I can't compare the experience of watching a film on a small screen with that on a big screen. Going to the cinema is always something else, and I’m glad I saw this film just in the cinema. I wanted to propose it hoping to encourage you to seize the opportunity to go to the movies. Also because films of this kind are enjoyed more in the darkness of the theater. Returning to the film, I wanted to thank you for highlighting koch's talent (I'll look for gabri), but I was positively impressed by all the actors who delivered remarkable performances. However, Muhe particularly stands out in the cast. He manages to act with his eyes, simply magnificent. One last note on the question of the occult supersovereign. I haven’t seen Coppola's "The Conversation," so I read the plot online. Indeed, there seem to be some affinities, but probably the difference in historical context - which is fundamental in this case - is what makes the difference between the two stories. Interesting reference to Fahrenheit 451 by Tiny_Banks, I didn't catch that, so I guess I have an excuse to rewatch Truffaut's masterpiece. Bye :)

Sure, Blackdog, although I'm not seeking approvals. I would say not just mediocre ones then. I haven't seen all of De Palma's films, but I have seen some. Starting from the latest, Black Dahlia (a huge, really huge flop, not mediocre, much worse), one could mention the "unforgettable" "Doppia personalità" (another colossal misfire), I would place "Mission Impossible" among the modest films out of kindness, very close to mediocrity, along with "Mission to Mars" (boredom cubed), "Blow Out" (meh...). "Omicidio a luci rosse" and the one reviewed on this page don't really captivate me. On the other hand, I fondly remember both "The Untouchables" (despite that wet blanket, K. Costner) and Scarface (greatly elevated by Pacino), and in my opinion, The Bonfire of the Vanities was underrated. Carrie... I saw that a century ago and have only a faint memory of it, but there are other films that I haven’t seen for just as long that I remember better, so... . There will surely be others that are slipping my mind or that I haven't seen. In any case, I sometimes find De Palma unnecessarily mannered, and other times truly disappointing, especially in recent years. I guess we have a different idea then, but that's okay. Bye and have a good weekend.

In his career, De Palma has alternated between great films and mediocre ones; this (for me) is a middle ground.

More of a small monograph on the group than a review of the album, but no less interesting for that; indeed, in my case, knowing practically nothing about this band, it was an incredibly fascinating read, as was the sample, captivating.

Giuseppe Tornatore Nuovo Cinema Paradiso
Voto:
Initially, the role of Noiret was supposed to be entrusted to Ciccio Ingrassia, who was contacted for this purpose by Tornatore. However, nothing came of it later, and Ingrassia did not take it very well; I remember an interview in which the actor, recalling the incident, cast doubts on the seriousness of Tornatore's mother... a film without infamy and without praise; I haven’t read the review, but I scanned it.

Rossana Casale Incoerente Jazz

I won this CD in poker a century ago; in fact, I accepted it in exchange for a gaming credit. It's difficult to pass judgment on this album, as it varies depending on the chosen parameters. If we look at Rossana Casale’s career, it was a turning point; if we consider the period in which it was released, it doesn’t look bad. However, it does not withstand the test of time, which inexorably marks its mediocrity. Averaging it out, it could yield a narrow pass, which I wholeheartedly consider when thinking of the central line in "A che servono gli dei," the one that says "siamo noi il bene ed anche il male." Bye.
