Pat Metheny Secret Story

Great album! Even though it's not one of my favorites. Among Metheny's works, I favor the ECM period, and I have a particular fondness for the album he did with Charlie Haden about Missouri. But has anyone heard "the way up"? The latest album with the Group? It's incredible to me. There's a drummer now (I think his name is Antonio Sanchez, maybe he's on his second album with Metheny) who's amazing; he's the new engine of the group. Just the other day, a friend told me about the concert they recently had at Umbria Jazz (I believe). I know they were outstanding... too bad I wasn't there.

there's a missing word: for some "films" it’s harder

"they are all equal now" ... it's difficult to review films, and for some, it's even harder. We've talked about this many times on this site; you can find some discussions in the dedicated Kubrick forum in the cinema section. I believe the discussion is far from over. It would be interesting to hear your opinions, which surely won't stop at the review, a beautiful contribution written from the heart, but I don't know. I have the impression that only those who have seen the film can truly understand it. Moreover - given the context of the site and the nature of the film itself - you could have spent a couple of words on the music. The theme of Schubert's piano trio!! for example. Or Handel... but also the theme "women of ireland" what refinement! It's one of the most beautiful soundtracks - for me!!! - in cinema.

It took a lot to get to the end ;) but it was worth it.

In the end, I arrive too but with very little to say since I don't know this record. However, in the past, I’ve trusted your choices and the way you present it... but I confess that listening to the sample of Asteroid Belt wouldn't bother me ;) Bye!

same as above, although I actually should have one of their albums forgotten somewhere.

Well ... whether it is or isn't a new entry, I don't know. I just know that I really like the review (a lot) and that I really like the fruit cake (so much ... yum) :) Hi

So much has already been said about the album in the twin reviews; I liked it for what I've listened to, perhaps too little. In the review, you emphasize many aspects, highlighting themes and raising reflections. The last one - "don’t let the gloom defeat you" - is both useful and beautiful. Bye.
