I'm very intrigued as well; I'm awaiting samples with confidence.

Hail Mary, I see it more tied to the theme of "the good news," as I said, it's nothing more than a prayer, indeed the prayer of the Sardinian tradition. Moreover, the text calls to mind the Sardinian songs that are the other theme of the album. Smisurata Preghiera, on the other hand, is abnormal - indeed, smisurata. Almost an unheard song directed towards the intolerable arrogance of the majority, thus it well ties into the theme of saved souls, which is also present in Hindi, but more so in songs like "canto del servo pastore." It is also worth highlighting that Coda di lupo is a song of strong yet intricate metaphors. Closing with Piero Ciampi, musically many arrangements are weak today, but his lyrics are magical. There are songs like "il vino," "livorno," "cristo tra i chitarristi," and "adius" that have an incredible strength. It’s a shame that the recording market has forgotten Ciampi.

Odradek, ask about Hassell; I can only tell you that his trumpet in "don't call me red" is set in a thrilling context, cinematic visions. It seems to tell a story of escape, I really don’t know how to describe it otherwise, but with great class. But beyond Hassell, the bassist is truly incredible and the old guys are fantastic. Some tracks like "3 cool cats" featuring Little Willie G on vocals and "onda callejera" are simply irresistible, but the whole album is a loop. As for Buena Vista... I’ll tell you... for a while, I hated the Cuban invasion. The talk about the "improbables" that Kosmo gives I believe was worldwide; I know several myself. The positive side is that many people got closer to music thanks to Buena Vista. Then there were "degenerative" phenomena like the trends that fueled the market. After the success of that album - which for me is beautiful - the majors scraped the bottom of the barrel, flooding the market to saturation. A few records - very few - were truly noteworthy, like "Introducing Ruben Gonzales," a wonderful piano, but certainly many releases could have been spared or at least studied differently. They wanted to strike while the iron was hot. A positive aspect is that the various Ochoa made some money after so many years of oblivion. In this case, the story is different, especially due to the departures, and K is right in saying that the "improbables" will be disappointed. Returning to the integrations, that of Metallarobuono is also beautiful (a nice recommendation, one of those I like and always hope to find), and thanks man... I really know little to nothing about baseball, it’s not a game I like much, but the NY versus Los Angeles story, like Sorso vs Sennori, is nice :)

Two responses and a quick greeting to everyone. I'm glad that many of you appreciated this Cooder album, because this work truly deserves it. I also read an interview with Cooder where he talked about the story of Normak's book, and I was hoping someone would mention it and expand on it (thank you kosmo, you went beyond expectations, excellent :)). Anyway, I found some beautiful photos online at this address link rotto Take a look at them because they are really beautiful and impressive. As for the album, the discussion about masterpieces always depends on many factors. Right now, for me, Chavez Ravine is one of the most beautiful albums of this year, and that alone is a good start for it to be talked about in the years to come. I see it as a mature - thoughtful - work by Cooder, sincere, alive, and extremely rich in content. Personally, I already consider it one of my favorites in his catalog; I believe all the premises for it to be talked about as a masterpiece later are there, we will see.

Yes, it's true, and so what? By the way, the collaboration with Bubola started on the previous album and includes during this time his solo album (tre rose) produced by De André (De André's only production) which was just reissued a few months ago. And anyway, in this case, saying rock is not too much; it's the only case, but it fits perfectly. Just listen to "Quello che non ho" and the same "Ave Maria." Bye.

no come on f... the Lord is just a rotten human being (by the way, I see Barry Lyndon present both in A Clockwork Orange and in 2001: A Space Odyssey ;))

But damn you for cheering for that bastard Lord Bullingdon. It's true that Barry Lyndon is certainly no saint, but the Lord doesn't show himself to be any better, because in the end we all kind of suck. That's why no tears, just grins.

Yes, but the difference is that in that epitaph I don't see a tear; rather... a sneer that says "that's the way it is."

However, the parallel between the Ave Maria and Smisurata Preghiera is somewhat over the line...
