AA.VV. Seguendo Virgilio - Dentro e fuori il Quartetto Cetra

Too many business, Knight... it’s already a phrase that seems to be written today. This album looks interesting, I’m inspired by both Avion Travel and the gang Spinetti Magoni (have you heard their album?). I'm also interested in Carlo Fava, he recorded a beautiful album and I like his "theatrical" dimension that relates back to Gaber... in short, great names and curiosities, maybe include some samples if you can, thanks.

Thanks for reminding me, John. I’m re-listening to it; I took the opportunity to add three samples. Bye!

Well... I was thinking more about the musical content, which could have been different for me while still maintaining the same choices of austerity you refer to. I thought that with that extraordinary voice she could have left a different mark on the world of music, perhaps a more impactful one. In my opinion, she could have dedicated herself to jazz, if I think about the excursions of "brava brava"... spine-tingling.

It just so happens that last night a guitarist friend came over and played me something by this extraordinary musician, whom I only knew by hearsay. Then, while browsing the internet, we saw that he is a cult figure for many guitarists. They promised me some videos and a few recordings, so we’ll talk about it again.
Manu Katché Neighbourhood
Voto:
It's one of the listens of this cold autumn, not yet fully absorbed and concluded, although the impression so far is excellent, both for the project and for the always excellent ECM production. I was struck by the discretion and the sense of unity with which the musicians participated in this important work that rightly brings the name of Manu Katché to the forefront. But it's only the name that is in the spotlight because the drums are not the priority instrument in this music; it seems to me that there isn’t a single drum solo throughout the entire album. Everyone has a leading role in these compositions, which often radiate warmth, and I'm pleased to know that this work also lives on in the memory of Miles Davis and Michel Petrucciani.

There is also a lot of love in that album John, and you Josi, can give it some serious thought.

Difficult and steep, there's no doubt about it, a perfect description for this album John. It's been a while since I listened to it; I remember it wasn't easy, but despite everything, it manages to get under your skin, leaving a vague sense of unease. For what it's worth, I also share the rating, and tonight I'll listen to it again.

I'm glad you read it; it's a thorough, heartfelt, and fluid analysis. It's worth highlighting the existence of multiple Jarretts (solo, trio, classic); I believe I love all these forms, perhaps a little less the classic one, even though, as you rightly point out, the suites by Haendel are disarmingly beautiful.
