I didn't mind it, easier than some of their other works all things considered, of course it doesn't last long in the CD player but it was listenable for that little while.

The album is indeed capable of evoking many musical references while maintaining a well-defined imprint. It felt like a "slow" CD that can grow on you with each listen. "Black Ice" is truly beautiful, but perhaps my favorite track on the album is "Mistakes." Nice, we have common listens, ciau :)

I have this record, this very edition, for a lifetime and I've listened to it I don't even know how many times; many who say they don't know it will have heard the beginning of the first movement many times, a famous theme. The concerto is wonderful, but for some reason I have always preferred the third of the five. Classical music was a bit absent around here, welcome back.

I remembered it as a demanding listen, and hearing it last night confirmed that for me. Dark and claustrophobic, at times grotesque, three and a half stars for me as well.
