"We want the world to know that the devastation that this administration is wreaking is not in our name. It's not in the name of many people in this country." The harshness is in the anthem of resistance that appears in this album like never before, a resistance entirely within the United States where many refuse to conform to the choices of the Republicans. When Haden and Bley conclude by saying "Don't give up the struggle continues," they place this album in relation to the previous ones in terms of its message. This is also evident musically in the medley "america is beautiful" where the anthem is deconstructed, distorted. The closing entrusted to Barber is then a sort of painful requiem for what is happening... in short, a very tough album means all this and more... goodbye.

A nice proposal, Filippo, but I have a doubt: I didn’t understand the initial part of the review where you refer to "My Favourite Things" by Coltrane in relation to the meeting between jazz and rock. Can you explain what you mean? Hi and thanks.

Thank you for the mention, guesswho, and for the clarification (by the way, how is it pronounced?) but to be fair, a charitable editor must have corrected the typographical error rightly pointed out by messere sfasciacarrozze. Also, I wanted to mention that Lola Lafon will be in Italy towards the end of April, in particular, a showcase is scheduled at Feltrinelli in Milan on the 27th, otherwise, the following day she will be performing on Radio Popolare, if anyone is interested...

So... I've included three samples for you: America The Beautiful, This is not America, and Samuel Barber's Adagio. I think they will work well. Bye :)

Ah, I'm glad you liked it, Gabri, even though I had few doubts about it... so in the piece you asked about, Christian Oliver sings. As for Lola... well, I like these women (remember Lila Downs? Another album came out that I'm listening to today...) and speaking of women, I hope you enjoy Yasmin Levy just as much; those albums are two real gems that connect to the theme of the value of hybrid culture mentioned here... but now I'm digressing, I'll stop :) ah, the link works; it's a review of the book. Bye :)

The title of the album was born in Rome. Haden was there during some peace rallies and was struck by the slogan "not in my name." The meaning of the album is clear, and Haden expresses it along with his companions with the usual musical and spiritual greatness. A very hard-hitting album, strong like all those of the LMO, an album that is listened to and re-listened to, not just today. There is another America, this is the message. Read the booklet of the album; Haden's words are heavy as boulders. One curiosity: the banner that appears on the cover is the same as the first album and was sewn by Carla Bley. Don't give up the struggle continues.

Well, at the CD crossing I was actually thinking about it, Gabri :) If Trell and Vi want to explicitly run for it, I'm waiting for a message with mydeb :) As for Morrissey, you're right, but he's another story :))
