Maurizio Pollini Friedrich Chopin Nocturnes

I share the opinion of Grasshopper and also that of Josi about this music and the idea that five stars are not mandatory. It's something I was thinking about and put into practice the other day while I was jotting down some thoughts on an album. In this case, I believe the nocturnes belong to the realm of masterpieces, and even though I’m not familiar with Pollini's version, I doubt it can be anything less than good (although it is difficult—at least for me—to pass judgment on interpretations). The review might not say much, but the first is always an experiment, and anyway, the choice suggests that there will be more good proposals from Mad Pianist in the future. So, welcome and greetings to the loggione. P.S. I have the version of the nocturnes by Maria Joao Pires, which I like a lot—I’ll give that one a vote—so we also remember a female interpreter. Bye :)

There are few comments because we had already talked a lot about this film and the soundtrack both in a forum dedicated to Kubrick and in the film review. The reference to the idea of painting while discussing music and film is more than correct, as painting was one of the inspirations for the imagery. The soundtrack ... what can I say ... I still keep the vinyl ... among the themes I love very much the piano trio op. 100 by Schubert, which is the main theme of the film. No words. I’ll leave you with a recommendation for a soundtrack while you wait for wanderer: "Tous les Matins du Monde" by Alain Corneau, music by Marin Marais, Sainte Colombe, Couperin, Lully, conducted by Jordi Savall. For me, it's beautiful. Bye.

But no, you haven't overdone it. I really liked the idea of balancing different sensitivities in this way, and it gives the impression that there is a vital and open spirit of inquiry behind the making of the album. Cheers!

The first Cesare Pavese I encountered was the translator of Moby Dick; the poems and his story came much later. Initially, I too was struck by "verrà la morte e avrà i tuoi occhi," then I discovered the lyrics of "lavorare stanca," the call to the land in his unique way, which... was related to his person. It’s a feeling that's hard to explain. Anyway, this proposal truly interests me and reminds me that I should pay more attention to the editions of "Il Manifesto," as they occasionally bring out really interesting things. Good night.

When I read Richter's name, I went to rummage through my CD collection because I remembered having something by him, and indeed I do. Unfortunately, the compilation disc from Philips that I own features Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and Chopin, while Schumann is missing... On the other hand, I have a version of Pollini's Symphonic Studies that I'm listening to again now, inspired by your review. I had completely forgotten it; it's a pleasure to rediscover it through your words. Thank you and greetings to the loggione :)

I haven't listened to him in a while; I vaguely remember World Diary. I would have loved to see him in concert; he is definitely one of those cases where the name is a guarantee, and the review clearly shows that it must have been a wonderful evening. Hi.

I called 041/2424 for information, and by "just listening," it means that you can't really see anything at all. Call the number I wrote and ask why. Bye.
