rich review as usual (the links are nice too); two names mentioned intrigue me quite a bit: Abercrombie, one of the first ECMs I got some time ago, and Wheeler, another ECM name that I absolutely love. The other name, Bill Evans, further increases my desire to get closer to this album.

The Tigersushi site you mentioned is really nice, and the album cover reminds me of Shazam's costume :)

And so Johannes Brahms makes his debut on these pages, but it was only a matter of time :) An excellent choice, of course, and a juicy description. However, I don't entirely agree with the conservative view of Brahms painted by his contemporaries; I prefer the progressive vision that emerged after his death. In fact, there was much more modernity in his music than is commonly believed. This work is an example, but also others like the German Requiem, the Haydn Variations, and the symphonies, which I believe are all masterpieces, even though the third and fourth are considered more significant. I'm not familiar with this version of the concerto; I own a classic DG with Maurizio Pollini, so I vote for that one, obviously. Bye :)

Good as usual odradek, I don't really like using peer-to-peer programs but this time it seems appropriate to make an exception.

It didn't win me over as much as you did, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it's really a nice album.
Ludwig van Beethoven Sinfonia n.°6 in fa maggiore, Op.68.

Well, sooner or later it had to happen, Grass :)) He was one of the first for me too, Grasshopper, and it was really in Karajan's interpretation. Do you remember those horrible Deutsche Grammophon covers with those gold and silver rays from the '80s? Karajan was the first conductor I listened to, and he is definitely at a very high level, but over time I have come to love others more, especially Carlos Kleiber. While Karajan excels in drive, I like him a bit less in the pianissimo passages. That’s why for this symphony, which has some - so to speak - delicate moments, I prefer other conductors over Karajan, including Bernstein. Bye :)
