Micah P. Hinson I Lie to You

I went to see him a few years ago in Florence because I loved his records. The guitar paid tribute to Guthrie ("This machine kills fascists") and his voice enchanted. After all these years, he came to mind, and tonight while googling I discovered three things: the first is that a new album has been released, the second is that he will be on tour in March and will be in my area too, and the third is this lovely review that made me want to leave a comment after such a long time. Thank you.

Thank you for the response, Pixies. Even though - sorry - I'm not sure I fully understood it, I want to reiterate that my comment about the structure was not a criticism, but just an observation, on which it seems we agree.

Let me explain better, pixies77. I liked the movie; it’s beautiful, well-made, but it’s not a masterpiece in my opinion. When I talk about already-seen (or already-written...) structures, I’m referring to several films from recent years with similar narrative mechanisms: the reality portrayed is viewed/perceived through the eyes of the protagonist but is distorted due to a traumatic event, and the discovery of the truth comes as a surprise at the end. Examples? There are both good and bad films that are analogous and comparable: "Il Sesto senso" and "The others," but also "The Life Before Her Eyes" and "Passengers," and there are certainly others. It's undoubtedly a very exploited trend in the last ten years. More than a strange criticism, it’s just a mere observation.

saw it yesterday, it reflects structures we have already seen, beautiful but not exceptional i.m.h.o.
