Well, this album doesn't say much to me... I find Emerson, Lake & Palmer too meandering; you get the unpleasant impression that their music doesn't really want to go anywhere, it seems devoid of a conceptual foundation that links individual ideas with the entirety of the piece, and over time this becomes extremely boring... the only album I truly find beautiful is the self-titled one, mainly due to the splendid "Take a Pebble." In the others, I wouldn't say they lack ideas, but there is definitely a lack of a strong underlying concept... for example, I've listened to "Tarkus" several times and it has never said anything to me, while "Supper's Ready" and "Atom Heart Mother" really convey a lot...

dressing PVC, pardon...I have both this and Third from the soft machine, needless to say I listen to this one more...don't hold it against me, but aside from the wonderful Moon in June, Third is definitely hard to digest.

Black gold is one of the best pieces of our local prog... in fact, for me, it’s the very best now... great lyrics, good vocal interpretation, kaleidoscopic melodically (and wonderfully), the final duet between guitar and flute is spine-chilling... listen, listen. For the review, you deserve a three and a half, honest and timely.
