Anyone who thinks that the '80s were just "Reagan-era hedonism," commercial disco-dance, or teenage diva phenomena is invited to listen to this record: they will reconsider. Excellent review, especially for a debut.

Allow me the banality, but by now I'm used to being the Lapalisse of the situation. So: why confuse "character" Enkrist, who can be, and in fact is, irritating to many (myself included), with his reviews, which are generally well done?

I've always said that sooner or later, Fiorello would be good for something.

I only know their "Juliet Letters" with Costello, but it's clear that I should broaden my horizons (how many horizons should I broaden...) and this excellent review encourages me to do so.

I’m sorry to shatter your certainties (at our age, the heart can take a hit), but I don’t know John Adams. Since you also provided the record label and the year, I’ll take that as a great tip: if the genre is similar to Copland’s, I’m sure I’ll like it. Even though we are now at the end of our journey on this earth, learning something new never hurts (there's a reason why the University of the Third Age exists).

Aeneas, but I'm already 100 years old, actually 101 in September. And not just me, but also Odradek and others have passed the century. We're practically a crowd of centenarians: all those who listen to R.E.M. At least that's what Enkriko the gloomy says, the young "cursed" poet.

Odra, I couldn't respond because I had to take a piss... you know with my prostate, it took me a dozen hours. But did you hear about that disgusting broth? They say they make it with cats; fortunately, that nice young man Enkriko thought of this too, and he opened his 600th forum precisely on this topic.

Of course, I don't want to confuse this wonderful review (which I recommend) where there’s just a hint of poison in one sentence, with those by the aforementioned Enkriko-Enkrist, which instead have a bit too much poison (and that's a shame, because those are also great).

I read this discussion: beautiful, but I feel a bit like an alien. The very smell of cigarette smoke annoys me, and I've never even smoked one. Regarding the Barrett-Lennon comparison and comparisons in general, I would like to share my simple truth: in my opinion, to exalt one, there's no need to put down the other. This is the method used by Enkriko-Enkrist (see Piero Ciampi genius and subsequently De André and Guccini, stuff for retirees), and I don't share it. The genius of Barrett and that of Lennon are vastly different from each other, but they can coexist, and in fact, during that magical period, they did coexist without one stepping on the other’s toes. But today, I feel like Monsieur De Lapalisse.

I found the cover in the Nannucci catalog, but I don't have this version; rather, I have the one conducted by Copland himself, from RCA - Classical Navigator series, a CD that I paid 6,000 lire for at the time (what a shame, classical music has no market), never spent money so well.
