Franz Schubert Songs Without Words

Fischer-Dieskau: today I just can’t seem to write. I take the opportunity to recommend another splendid cycle of Schubert Lieder, called "Die Schone Mullerin" (more or less: my German is what it is).

I see that some Lieder from this collection belong to that beautiful cycle called "Der Winterreise": although I personally prefer the "wordless" versions, I allow myself to recommend the album with the entire cycle for piano and orchestra (that is, in the original version) with His Majesty Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau accompanied by Daniel Barenboim. This is probably also a 7.

If I could underline a review with a pencil, a pen, or in any other way, I would gladly do it with this one: I agree with everything 100%. In any random ranch, no, but in the ranch of that stupid Katrina, a little visit could have been nice, Uncle Dog! (I wrote it so angrily that I ended up with an extra 'o')

Meldoia is not a neologism, but it stands for melody.

A breath of fresh air for an old classic music lover: that concentrate of melody and sweetness that are Schubert's Lieder. And this is coming from someone who usually doesn't digest Lieder, preferring symphonic music by far. But Schubert's are special: it seems he was born to create these perfect miniatures, which fit perfectly in representing poetry in music. I would love to give a double 6, but I can't. I would give a 6 to the album without hesitation: I don't own this disc, but I know another splendid instrumental version of many Schubertian Lieder, based on Liszt's piano transcriptions, and I can assure you it's worth a 6.

Ajeje, why do you quote me about the imitations of classical music? If there's anyone who can't stand them, it's me, especially as a die-hard classical music fan. But the same applies, for example, to Emerson, Lake & Palmer, and that's a bit of their main limitation. The Genesis, while using a symphonic sound, have their own overflowing inventiveness, as seen in this masterpiece, which I consider second only to Foxtrot. The review is good too.

If possible, let’s leave aside Pirandello and incomprehensibility... This guy communicates perhaps a little too well; rather he's just a trickster who knows how to cover the absolute void of what he says (not to mention his "music") through looks, ecumenical messages, television clichés, etc. etc. A great communicator, like Silvio Berlusconi. It's a shame because the review wasn’t bad, despite dealing with an indefensible character.
Sergio Caputo Swing&Soda

Comparing him to Capossela seems to me like saying that Pieraccioni reminds us of Benigni: Caputo is much more bland and insignificant. The review is good though, even if it praises him a bit too much.

In this album, the distillation of a soul; in this review, the distillation of a review (or the kernel, as Il Chiavone says). Even if everything else is missing, it is enough to understand.
