However, I believe the album deserves 3 and a half stars.
For pure listening pleasure, it could be rated 4 and beyond, but when I add the criterion of "what does it add to their career," the rating goes down because some songs, as beautiful as they are, feel a bit déjà vu.
The real novelty lies in the different approach to the lyrics: gone is the pessimism and the autobiographical sarcasm, making way for instinct, ardor, libido, and the desire of a woman who doesn't consider you, but doesn't know how happy you could make her.
This wolf, singing mournfully about his longing, symbolizes the condition of misfits, the misunderstood, the outcasts: forced to suppress themselves and, precisely for this reason, full of inner fire.
I’m happy that he has returned to propose some dirtier tracks; the dreamy/toy-like tone of Blinking Lights (a masterpiece) had tired me a bit.
There’s a slight lack of novelty’s breath, but E wins again this time thanks to a class that has few equals, a consistently vivid inspiration, and the disarming sincerity with which he expresses his feelings.
With this Hombre Lobo, his catalog is enriched with further memorable episodes.

It would be a 3.5, but we'll gladly give it a 4.
