"Almost 80% of my friends"... who the hell is Renato Mannheimer? I meant to say most of my friends, there you go.

Almost 80% of my friends are crazy about these. I think I've only heard 2-3 of their songs. The latest one, they tell me, is something more progressive and without growl; I’ll give it a try. Of course, if I hear even just 0.2% of a hint of death metal, I’ll drop it immediately: it’s not my genre.

I listened to it. They're still following the usual formula: the same bass lines interspersed with sickly sweet, crushingly annoying melodies, with Kiedis continuing to act like a fool. And the chilling result is this: the ugliest song of the century. Instead of the pill on the cover, a piece of shit would have made more sense. Well-written review.

Nurse: Excuse me? Doctor? Do you have a moment?
Doctor: A moment? What's the question?
Nurse: More of a situation, a gentleman in exam 3.
Doctor: What's the problem?
Nurse: That is the problem, we're not sure.
Doctor: You got the chart?
Nurse: Right here.
Doctor: Not much here is there?
Nurse: No doctor, no obvious physical trauma. Vitals are stable.
Doctor: Name?
Nurse: No sir.
Doctor: Did someone drop him off? Maybe we could speak to them. Let's get some background on this fella.
Nurse: No ID. Nothing (heavy breathing in background) And he won't speak to anybody.
Doctor: Well, let's say hello. Good morning, I'm Dr. Lawson. How are you today? How - are - you today?! Look son, you're in a safe place. We wanna help in whatever way we can. But you need to talk to us. We can't help you otherwise. What's happened? Tell me everything.
CAZZY: Would you tell me to skip this beautiful passage with the NHS doctor before the most "Tool-like" song on the entire album starts? Nah...

ZANNAB: regarding the fan discussion, I agree; that's not the point: Chinese, Moroccans, Afghans, children, old folks, Inter fans: welcome them all. I preferred the sounds of "Undertow," it's true, and if they had continued in that style, they would be, for me, much less known now. But since they're a great band that invented this kind of "dark-progressive-alternative-metal " (or whatever the hell you want to call it), they have been rightly praised by critics, and have gained more and more followers from that "metal audience," which is undoubtedly quite large. "Lateralus" and "Aenema" are stellar; how could I be disappointed? In fact, I'm one of those who still considers "10,000 Days" an excellent album (despite Maynard). It's not that I don't like them anymore, or that I don’t feel I belong to that metal audience that knows/listens to Tool. That's all.

Few "new adherents," you say. Well, if you also consider those like me who have been listening to them for "only" 12-13 years, then you're right. For me, for example, a "new adherent" is mostly someone who figured out that: "oh wow, you have to listen to Lateralus or Aenema by Tool, forget about this Dream Theater stuff." Stuff that if you ask them: "what about Undertow?", they'll respond: "oh no, I don't know them" (that's not the case with the reviewer). ZANNAB: It’s a sort of justified venting for those, like me, who are fed up with waiting. I don't agree when you speak of a declining phase: "Deftones - 'White Pony' (2000) - 'Rage Against the Machine - The Battle of Los Angeles' (2001) - 'Nine Inch Nails - The Fragile' (1999)." "Soundgarden - Well, maybe here you're right." But aside from that, feel free to judge me, but for me the "average universal Tool fan" remains someone who is accustomed, so to speak, to this type of sound. An opinion that can be debated.

At station number 17, for example, here’s one. Welcome. The toilets are always at the back on the right.
