Hi guys... I'm a huge prog enthusiast.
I have albums from all over the world... and honestly, outside of Europe, I absolutely recommend getting "si on avait besoin d'une cinquième saison" by Harmonium... it's such a great album!!!!!! There are various jazz fusion bands leaning towards prog in Canada that are sadly overlooked by many fans of the genre... I sincerely recommend getting those!!!!!!!! If you want a good website to check out, I suggest www.progarchives.com (it has everything)!!!
Anyway, my favorite albums remain Pawn Hearts, First Utterance (Comus), High Tide, Islands, and Lizard.
Now I'm delving deeper into the German scene... and I would like the names of some key bands!
Who can recommend them????
Soft Machine Third

Hello, I want to preface that I really love Pink Floyd... but honestly, they haven’t left behind such immense albums in history... aside from Piper and Atom. Their most famous albums, "The Dark Side" and "The Wall," are definitely overrated... (especially "The Wall")... at least in my opinion!!
Third is one of my favorite albums... perhaps the best by Soft... but you didn’t say much about the individual members of the first lineup: they left behind incredible albums like "Joy of a Toy" and "Rock Bottom"... at least a mention would have been deserved for these brilliant albums... great review, anyway! It seems you have good taste... what Prog albums would you recommend????
King Crimson Islands

Guys, do you have any good progressive albums to recommend????
Second Hand Death May Be Your Santa Claus

sorry Paloz not Polaz!!!
King Crimson In The Court Of The Crimson King

From my name, perhaps you can tell, dear Polaz, that the aforementioned album is one of my favorites... However, I truly believe you should have expanded your thoughts, expressed your emotions by writing them down, and maybe talked a bit more about the five tracks in question... As for King Crimson, this is the most "raw" and least polished album of the first five (excluding the total crap "in the wake of Poseidon"), it is undoubtedly a masterpiece, but I much prefer "Islands" and "Lizard" and I have a certain weakness for "The Fracture": these immense masterpieces are much more elaborated and refined... Anyway, tastes are tastes and know that they are tastes, cheers!
Voluntears The Voluntears Are Alright
Voto:
This is undoubtedly one of my top 5, followed only by Pawn Hearts and First Utterance. It's a shame about Bonco's voice, which, while trying to imitate his idol Freddie Mercury, perhaps suffers from too much virtuosity... the syncopated rhythms and the incredible use of time are almost "Stravinskian"... it’s worth highlighting the use of tabla and bongo, as well as every Eastern percussion by the four-handed Nocentini... Jokes aside... I congratulate you for making a dream tangible... well done!!!
One day we will come too: the "THE JOKE"!!!!
Pink Floyd The Dark Side of the Moon
Voto:
Know-it-all, you are a genius. I really liked your review, even though it's a good album (not excellent) still better than "Atom Heart Mother." But how many damn idiots are there who don't understand why you do this? You are a genius...
King Crimson Lizard
Voto:
I don't mind Haskell at all!!!
I don't understand why everyone likes Red, which in my opinion is the only album lacking an original sound... a disjunctive characteristic of every KC album.
Lizard is definitely the most refined and cultured album, along with Islands. (I still prefer the latter!)
Van Der Graaf Generator Pawn Hearts
Voto:
I love progressive music above all, and although I can navigate through this sublime genre, I know few albums from other styles. However, I only really appreciate music from '67 to '75 (of course, there are some excellent albums that came out before or after, such as Locanda delle Fate). Anyway, it’s hard to establish a top 5 because each album is unique and evokes different, unclassifiable emotions... Nevertheless, I’ll give it a try: 1) Pawn Hearts. 2) Islands. 3) First Utterance (Comus). 4) Larks' Tongues in Aspic. 5) In the Court. And if I may add a 6) High Tide (High Tide). Guys, would you like to share your top 5?
