History and, above all, historical research, should be a-dogmatic. Here, however, we talk about and for dogmas, as is always the case when dealing with such recent and painful events. I don’t share my opinion primarily because I don’t think this is the right setting to delve into certain themes; second, because I have neither the desire nor the time to trivialize something that undoubtedly carries significant weight (all these controversies prove it); third, because, I repeat, the overall tone of the comments is quite superficial (this is not meant to offend anyone; I merely observe the banality and the lack of historical depth, that’s all).

I never thought it was possible to read so many "historical" nonsense all at once, but every time I see the comments on movies or books that discuss (poorly, as in the case of this fiction, but find me a single cinematic work that has any historical value) historical topics, I have to change my mind: everyone suddenly becomes a Sunday historian, relying on the deep studies they've done by reading a magazine, or in the case of the more thorough, Wikipedia. And the funny thing is that the nonsense comes shooting from both sides... how sad!

But indeed the discussion is valid, and I perfectly know that "porci con le ali" compared to "melissa p" is another matter entirely, just as I acknowledge the full dignity of erotic literature (which remains something else compared to Melissa P, eh). The bottom line is that the erotic genre in cinema is really a letdown; from Brass downwards, everyone claims to be about art while their audience is just there hoping to see a bit more than what's allowed. At this point, at least make me laugh, like Banfi & co. did in the years gone by or like in Sex & Zen. Then the explosion of porn has effectively silenced the erotic genre, which every now and then tries to raise its head but always ends up being mediocre (or just trash).

The point is that when I was talking about cyclical things, I was specifically referring to books: if you pay attention, scandalous books about sex come out regularly, claiming to be a mirror of reality, showing what the real world of young people is like... it ranges from "Porci con le ali" to "Le età di Lulù," from "100 colpi di spazzola" to "Mi chiamo principessa e faccio la cubista"... in short, it’s always the same tune that comes up to excite and/or scandalize the right-thinking people of the moment (and sell a few hundred thousand copies).

A disgraceful load of nonsense, like 99% of erotic films that represent the peak of "I wish I could, but I can't," the perfect sublimation of failed emulation. Back then, they were watched by pimple-faced teenagers fast-forwarding, hoping to see more than what was actually shown, or by adults who could justify themselves by saying it was a serious film, while in reality, they were drooling at the thought of some nice porn. Luckily, the internet has put an end to these ignoble productions, which do come back now and then, cyclically, like that other shameful mess, Melissa P. Interestingly, they are always adaptations of supposed "scandalous" books crafted for the more prurient segments of the well-to-do and self-righteous classes, which turn out to be garbage written artfully by savvy editors to break the million-copy barrier. Well...

Overrated, especially by himself. In the beginning, he wasn't bad at all, then he got lost in a state of apparent delusions of grandeur. He used to be funnier.

I've always preferred the very first season, the one that could have been written by the Tarantino of old. Anyway, great review and great opening theme.

Before the book, I used to read the blog a bit, and it wasn't bad at all; in fact, our Carolina is definitely number one (and she's also very pretty). She has one tiny flaw: she's "slightly" long-winded... :D
