I don't know, I prefer the debut album. By a long shot. I understand the quotes, the guest appearances, the oxymorons and the antitheses… but in the end? There are some elements that are indisputable for me: they are incredible musicians, they know they are and they make it clear. But for my taste, the album featuring Riccardo Fogli, Ruggeri etc etc makes - let’s say - a satire that seems aimed at the Italy of Canzonissima or Sanremo. But I'm not sure that the Italy they are satirizing is still the same. Besides, doing satire is a slippery game. Their peak was the "Italia dei cachi" right at Sanremo, both for the situation and for the song, which aimed at a non-Sanremo Italy. Now that’s a musical and situational masterpiece. Seen today, considering Elio today, now a spokesperson for various brands and a guest on countless TV shows, they also seem institutionalized, but perhaps that’s inevitable. They were truly great.
