I would definitely say no, the main flaw of the album is its being half-way between a British-derived prog sound and the attempt to direct other acoustic and choral solutions straight into the West Coast tradition. Certainly capable in both directions, but in the overall feel of the album, the blend is made of distinct fragments, not of an original melting pot. In the following track, Mass Media Stars, these anomalies will be smoothed out and the band will acquire a truly enviable sound, so enviable that PFM, in search of new solutions, couldn't wait to borrow ideas from it, and it has never been emphasized enough how that unfortunate album anticipated, albeit by a year, Chocolate Kings.

Yes, there is some crossbreeding between different genres, due to naivety and youth, and I mentioned it in the mini-review of the album that this represented an embryo of what AF could have become. With the second LP, although it's more compact and homogeneous, I believe it lacks those dreamy openings typical of the debut album. It’s still a real shame that they broke up after Bernardo's departure. Anyway, on October 1st AF is coming back with a new album of unreleased tracks and three of the old members, including Lanzetti, of course. Curious and anxious to hear it, even though I'm scared by the idea of a possible disappointment!

Too much anxiety produces disappointments; it's better to focus on curiosity. These are people who haven't played together in ages, and it's not easy to recreate the same emotions. One can only hope to pull out old ideas from the drawer that have been left there for decades and that they might prove to be valid even now.
