Skunk Anansie: Post Orgasmic Chill
CD Audio I lack ★★★★★
They are incredibly strong! Technically proficient, energetic, experimental, with excellent melodic instincts. Whirling tracks with many evolutions, thunderous riffs, skill, and emotion.
Spock's Beard: X

Simply a superb album, every now and then our guys, as usual, go a bit overboard but it remains one of the most dense and brilliant albums ever, one of the brightest examples of why progressive music, even though intricate and cerebral, can evoke immense emotions. The long suites, "Jaws of Heaven" and "From the Darkness," are probably the best things they have ever composed. Who speaks ill of good Nick!!!
Steve Hackett: Voyage Of The Acolyte
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
Very pleasant are the Genevan fascinations, but the ideas are few and sometimes confused.

Not really, I respect your opinion of course... But not really :-)

Few and confused ideas? Are you really sure you listened to this record?

It seems that Rutherford stated "...nice little disc". Anyway, I don't agree with what you said. However, tastes are tastes...

Well, obviously it's not to be dismissed at all, indeed "Shadow of the Hierophant" is really beautiful, but the other tracks are not very intricate and not all the transitions are quite successful. What I appreciate are the Genesis atmospheres, of course; they do sound a bit familiar and are expressed better elsewhere, but he was part of that band, so he can afford it...! I'd say that the 5 stars really go to other works...
    P.S.: I didn't understand Miss Kinotto's joke!

Sagrente nen, it was a load of crap.
In my personal opinion, Hackett gave his best in the Genesis context. I think he and the hated Tony Banks together created magic.

    Absolutely!
Steven Wilson: Insurgentes
CD Audio I lack ★★★★★
Often overlooked in the face of the grandiloquent subsequent works, this record is, however, already incredibly dense and polished in detail. Claustrophobic, experimental, effective: a great debut.
Steven Wilson: The Raven That Refused To Sing
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
Probably one of the best albums ever, not just in prog. The blend is unique, between the chilling experimentalism of "Insurgentes," the eclectic jazz of "Grace for Drowning," and a songwriting that is as poetic and evocative as ever. The story of the raven is certainly the most stirring, but the others also depict characters with a lyricism and a stunning dramatic quality. Even the cover is a masterpiece.

Well, one of the best albums ever, I would say no :D, the best album by Wilson along with the following one, absolutely yes.

Steven Wilson: Grace For Drowning
CD Audio I lack ★★★★★
From the most moving and atmospheric pop-rock to the eclectic jazz with a crimsonian flavor, with all possible interludes. Great content, great musicians, flawless execution. A double album with an incredible level of quality and a wealth of ideas, all tied together by the same hallucinatory and melancholic inspiration. Just shy of a masterpiece.

It's a nice album, but I prefer the other ones by Wilson as a solo artist; I find it a bit uneven in songwriting and with a few too many lengthy parts (like Raider 2, for example).

I have no idea which of Wilson's solo work is my favorite; I think they all deserve some recognition. The one I've listened to the most is the latest one, really a great piece of work.

Great album, the psychedelic prog of the past and the pop of the present fused together into a single product.

Absolutely yes! It has been defined by some as "the The Wall of the Facebook generation," crazy!

0_0 beyond the fact that I don't understand what "The Wall" has to do with it, I don't know if it's meant to be a compliment, eh :D. In any case, the last one is probably my favorite of his solo work.

Well, if you consider the theme of the album (the paradoxical isolation of young people despite social networks, etc.), it is comparable to the contents of The Wall. Musically, no, they are totally different, but in a way, Wilson has also made a compromise between pop (Hand Cannot Erase, Perfect Life) and progressive (Ancestral, Routine). So it has always seemed to me an appropriate definition.

Styx: Paradise Theater
Vinile I have it ★★★★★
Their cloying theatricality and that glossy taste in the arrangements could only find its highest fulfillment in a grand pop-rock masterpiece that deals with the decay of past glories.
System Of A Down: Toxicity
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
Explosive mix of trash, progressive, and exotic sounds, with aggressive and committed lyrics. Despite some moments that are a bit too frantic, this album is a masterpiece.

Do you mean trash? xD sometimes... fortunately everything is very dynamic so it doesn't bother that much, on the contrary many moments are chilling!

Tattone, you know I still haven't quite figured out if it's me who's messing with you or the other way around.
