Gandalf: Gandalf
CD Audio I lack ★★★★
I can't help but give four stars to this album even though it's made up solely of covers. The musical atmosphere that it creates is so enchanting that it's impossible not to love it. It's like flying on a magic carpet.
Genesis: Selling England By The Pound
Vinile I have it ★★★★
Pearls like "Dancing with the Moonlit Knight" and "Firth of Fifth" are part of the history of progressive rock and are undoubtedly artistic peaks. The rest of the album is far from magnificent: despite a piece like "I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe)," catchy and musically perfect, with that hypnotic Eastern guitar, and a deep and enchanting instrumental track like "After the Ordeal," the album doesn't quite measure up to its predecessors.

Where do you place The Cinema Show and The Battle Of Epping Forest? All the tracks are immense, only More Fool Me doesn't fit at all...

After listening to the album for the umpteenth time, and having really paid attention, I've come to the conclusion that the Genesis here have stretched it too far. Too self-referential, especially "The Cinema Show": it makes my knees feel weak. At least "The Battle Of Epping Forest" is entertaining, it has a kick-ass lyric and the music is more engaging.
Genesis: Foxtrot
Vinile I have it ★★★★★
Unmissable and wonderful
Genesis: Trespass
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
Pearl! The maturity of Genesis, both musically and lyrically, is evident and cannot be mistaken for didacticism, as it will be in "Selling..." and "The Lamb." "Trespass" is an incredibly smooth and pleasant album, touching throughout the entire first side, a bit bolder and more aggressive on the second with "The Knife" and the central part of "Stagnation." It ranks as the third album of the Gabriel era in my personal list.
Genesis: Nursery Cryme
Vinile I have it ★★★★★
Initially, as many know, I preferred "Foxtrot" to any other album by Genesis, enough to declare it my absolute favorite rock album, but I have reevaluated this wonder, chronologically preceding the dethroned "fox album." Three immeasurable and indisputable gems + a more than good piece (Seven Stones) and three short pleasant tracks. "Nursery Cryme" is the most striking case of a perfectly constructed album, where all the pieces come together flawlessly.
