Cairo: Conflict and dreams
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
The best of a trilogy of albums that redefine American Prog: all the usual references from across the Atlantic are present, but the listening experience flows with emotions, beautiful melodies, and remarkable technique. The premature death of the excellent vocalist Bret Douglas extinguishes the spark of an underrated band.

Really not bad for a prog revival 20 years later; it seems to me like a measured extraction of some constituent ingredients from the early period, primarily EL&P, Weather Report, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Yes, with a nicely disenchanted pop edge. After all, how could it be any different? Quite enjoyable to listen to.
Camel: Breathless

A classic album with no flaws: everything is in its right place, an exceptional attention to sound, even the easiest tracks shine on their own. How can one not love Latimer's long solo in Summer Lightning over the unstoppable drumming of Ward? Class that has never been sold enough.
Absolute romantic ecstasy: how many progressive acts of the '70s and how many celebrated masters of Moog and Hammond must have been inspired by this enchanting tour de force. Towards the end of the First Movement, a subtle organ line serves as a backdrop to a breathtaking string phrase. An immensely great artist who is never praised enough.

True, for example, Procol Harum had in their repertoire his Concerto for organ.

The keyboardist of the Dutch band Kayak, Ton Scherpenzeel, released his version of Le Carnaval Des Animaux in '78, a beautiful but little-known album that is hard to find. ;-)
The spring monkey of Canterbury pop, still working, if you load it up, how many parties it throws for you!
Change: The Glow of Love
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
Mauro Malavasi, Davide Romani, and Paolo Gianolio, three boys already well-versed in the Bologna scene of taverns and singer-songwriters. In 1980, on the first try, the tavern transforms into a dance floor, the tagliatelle into neon spirals, and the world thanked by dancing, while the tortellini floated in a sparkling broth. GOOD TIMES.
Chrome: Half Machine Lip Moves

A nighttime car ride from many years ago with four friends perfectly revved up. The track of this record blasting on a powerful sound system. At one point, one of the two sitting in the back starts bleeding from an ear... fortunately, it wasn't me.

Epic both in storytelling and in the record, definitely one of the most violent sonic catastrophes ever.

Sooner or later, I’ll just lock myself in a room with these guys; I have to do it. I’ve never understood why I got obsessed with This Heat and never really paid attention to these.

And what am I saying... masterpiece. Punk rockers on acid.

to think that with 'The Visitation' the meaning was to rise aboard a hot air balloon taking off from my body. But when Helios arrived, flying saucers took the place of the balloons. And at that speed, even the sounds of this Earth (?) start to sound a bit stranger..

@SilasLang: hahaha, straight from the compilation of the Flaming Lips!

I heard some recent things, a sort of sci-fi metal that stank of mustiness.

@fuggitivo Yes. Even though it's fine for Chrome as well. @Gianlui I haven't even considered the recent things. Instead, I would like to delve deeper into something by Helios Creed on his own.

other people who have moved it a few kilometers further ahead (in the two dimensions with which we mere mortals measure the unfolding of things: space and time) rock music. Many may have done even more beautiful things, but very few have been so important.
Clan of Xymox: Medusa

In the '80s, 4AD hit the mark every time: Gothic-Progressive with dark, melancholic shades, emotional and one of a kind. An arrow straight to the heart.

I wanted to review it but I avoid making duplicates; for me, after 25 years of listening, the album has actually grown, and I love it just as much as the previous one. Different tastes help make us unique, and I like that.
Cocteau Twins: Lullabies To Violaine

Having all their EPs on vinyl is wonderful, but seeing them all collected in a convenient CD package is simply priceless. For everything else, there's Mastercard, just a long line of masterpieces that shine like a lit Christmas tree.
