ufo: strangers in the night
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
Discovered late, but it was still a great pleasure. Beautiful live album, in my opinion worthy of standing alongside other more famous live recordings in the Hard Rock genre. In some tracks, there are affinities with the sound of the Scorpions (Doctor Doctor, Lights Out). Rock Bottom is my favorite piece.
UFO: LIGHTS OUT

I'm crazy about their hard and pure rock pieces, while I can hardly stand their ballads. I can't stand "Try Me" and the singing in "Love to Love", although I quite like the music of the latter. I'd give them a four, but there are "Too Hot to Handle" and "Lights Out", so I'm happy to round it up to five. Hello everyone, both nice and not so nice.

Here’s one of the beauties! I don't know, for me Mogg's voice fits perfectly, and the ballads you mentioned are absolutely stunning! The same goes for their other masterpiece, Phenomenon. Two perfect albums.

Great band, excellent albums, superb "Strangers in the Night". Among the studio albums, I prefer Phenomenon, and not just because of the presence of "Doctor Doctor". Nonetheless, this is a great little record. Sun mi el brut?

When you feel like listening to Hard Rock, it's Hard Rock and nothing else. This is the album you need. Great Hard Rock from beginning to end. Great album.

albumdellamadonna. Besides the classics it contains, noteworthy is the long goosebumps solo by Shenker on Space Child. Mamma mia....
  • I wanted to read who put me in a good mood, and I did it myself. Today is not the day.
Ultravox: Systems Of Romance
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
It's a pity that fate didn't grant a second chance to the lineup that created this album. In my opinion, the average quality of the tracks is lower than the previous album (hence my 4), but the new guitarist had some pretty good ideas (e.g. 'Slow Motion'), and the few live performances available online make me say it's a shame it didn't last longer (the lineup).
Ultravox: Ha! Ha! Ha!

Great tracks like 'The Frozen Ones', 'Distant Smile', and 'Hiroshima Mon Amour'. I've been on the lookout for a good live album from the Foxx era (maybe with the 'Systems Of Romance' lineup), I've asked around here but nobody's paid me any mind. The version of Hiroshima I prefer is Ultravox! - Hiroshima Mon Amour (1977)

There’s the EP "Retro" from '78, the same period as this album, but it only has 4 tracks. The two tracks from side A were resurrected on the Island-Remaster version of Ha! Ha! Ha!, from 2006, while those from side B are on the reissue of Ultravox!. I don’t have these versions, but looking around it doesn’t seem like there’s anything else. The rest, at least what I know, is all from the post-Foxx period.
  • Thanks! I was aware of Di Retro, I was hoping it could be found somewhere the performance at the Old Grey Whistle Test.

it was going around on bootleg, those who have it are lucky... I don't even know if you can download it from somewhere, because then I fear that the lucky ones in question aren’t many...
