one of the most melancholic and spectral records of all post-punk, the Cocteau on this debut craft rarefied litanies quite distant from what they will offer in the future, with Fraser's almost unrecognizable voice grappling with vibrant mantras and the music proceeding drearily and pallidly. perhaps the best of the Cocteau, undoubtedly their most inspired chapter.

    Underrated album but I really like it: Blood Bitch, Wax and Wane, The Hollow Men, etc.
    For me, from Garlands to Victorialand, the Cocteau were THE BEST, also good albums like BBK and Heaven or Las Vegas, which I like less though.
