    The first is on entirely different levels. Here are two great tracks: the elegiac pop of Nothing C. (one of the best pop songs ever made) and the beautiful new age lullaby "Three Babies" (but no one ever talks about it), then two other lovely tracks like "Black Boys on Mopeds" (moving) and "Feel so different," all of which are of excellent quality. The rest is all well done but lacks that momentum, that courage to dive in even without a parachute, that wild and untamed roughness that burst from his throat like a raging river and that, even if he had wanted to, he could never have managed to stifle. His throaty warbles from an aroused amazon are contained, his screams softened, now merely a mannered exercise; the raw fervor of the Lion's roar is missing, as is the venom spat in the face by the Cobra.

    Well, I find a practically perfect job....you mentioned 4-5 gems, what more do you want from an LP.....the live version of Feel so different posted at the same time speaks volumes...the Lion and the Cobra are alive!

    I'm not saying it's not a good album. It's just that in The Lion there was artistic flair and originality in spades, but here, not so much. The package has taken precedence over the content, and the packaging significantly limits the expressive and creative possibilities of the singer. But still: if only there were more "packages" like these instead of the crap that was played on the radio back then (not to mention today).
