seminal!
  • boring!
I've tried at least ten times to get into it (this one and also the subsequent "Beckola," which is slightly more inviting): no luck. And to think I'm a die-hard fan of guitarist Beck.
My personal verdict is: rockblues devoid of memorable hooks, it goes in one ear and out the other. There are no melodic, rhythmic, or arrangement elements that make the tracks unforgettable, or at least lacking a particular energy, passion, etc.
As a symbol and support for my opinion, there's the cover of "You Shook Me," a generic blues that slips away along with everything else in the case of "Truth," an excellent track instead on "Led Zeppelin I" with psychedelic and sexy dragged guitar, powerful singing full of youthful energy, and a detonating house drum = Jeff/Stewart and company’s version has been wiped off the map.

You argue well, but finding this little gem boring is, for me, a matter of taste, of course.
  • Sure, why not: after all, I find the Velvet Underground, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Michael Jackson, Iggy Pop, Ramones, Clash, Depeche Mode, Talking Heads, Brian Eno, Peter Gabriel alone, 90% of jazz, operatic music, all South American and Caribbean music, Italian progressive, Mina and Celentano, Renato Zero essentially useless and undoubtedly boring for me. Nonetheless, I adore dozens of bands/artists and I’m attached to thousands of names in rock, pop, progressive, fusion, and folk. Everyone is selective in their own way.
