Frank Black: Teenager Of The Year

Engaging, exciting, fun, on par with the best Pixies you can think of while diverging (in a very good way) from their style by taking a path (in fact, many more than one) that is quite different. A fantastic album.

Great album, the second solo work by Frank: twenty-two tracks that move in many directions... and by magic, in the last tracks, a rather famous guitar reappears, that of Mr. Santiago...

Right now I can't recall the titles of the tracks; but I'm sure that in the last three songs, Joey's Pixie-memory guitar does its excellent job, as always.

As I already pointed out some time ago, and not in his case, when artists leave 4AD, problems start, it seems scientifically proven. Cocteau Twins, Modern English, Clan Of Xymox are living proof of it. Francis managed to deliver the most beautiful sequence of tracks in a double studio album in the '90s, and the credit is 50%, just like the previous one, to a certain Mr. Feldman, often underrated but essential for the arrangements.

This double album is as far from goblins as it is delightful.
