    I remain of the opinion that the Floyd should not be considered progressive, let alone the Purple.

      We include the Floyd in prog, a bit tight in my opinion, but it can work, but the Purple???? Hard Rock for me...

    Progressive rock is perhaps the most commented and debated musical genre of all time, to the point where they've included everything or excluded just as many names that for some seem unmovable.
    The way I see it, some works by Deep Purple are much more prog than the little things from Renaissance, Moody Blues, Procol Harum, or certain kitschy pieces from ELP. Listen to the mini-suite "April" or a bit of the whole "Book of Taliesin" and then we can talk about it again...
