Mason doesn't convince me; I would see a Peart or a Di Cioccio. Also, if there's no Cobham, it means you don't know him. Listen to the works with McLaughlin's Mahavishnu Orchestra and his solo debut "Spectrum" to start. As for Collins, I would only include tracks from the first two Brand X albums :)

I need to listen to the Mahavishnu Orchestra; many have recommended them to me. What do you suggest I listen to? As for Collins, in certain tracks with Genesis he was a volcano (especially in the live setting, see Watcher Of The Skies).

I find Nick Mason very underrated; for me, he remains a great. One should listen to the various bootlegs from the early 70s and Live at Pompei, not the studio albums.

Of course, Collins was a monster with Genesis ;) but for me, he really shone with Brand, no doubt about it. Pretty much all of Mahavishnu from 1971 to 1976, but especially the two masterpieces "The Inner Mounting Flame" (1971) and "Birds of Fire" (1973), two milestones of Jazz-Rock. Mason was a good drummer until '73, then it was all fluff :)

Let's say that Pink Floyd perform as a group until 1975. After that, from '77 onwards, it's only Waters (even though Animals is among my favorite PF albums). Anyway, thanks for the advice hjhhjij, I'll keep it in mind.

Now explain to me how Cobham keeps up with Mason :D XD XD (just kidding Syd)

Anyway, today, after a long time, I listened to "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn" again and it's a bit strange to talk to someone who calls themselves SydBarrett :D

Alright, personal feelings come into play here. Mason may not be a master, and that's true, but Pink Floyd was my first love.
And just as I'm re-listening to that masterpiece A Saucerful Of Secrets at Pompeii, you need to understand me. xD

  • SydBarrett96

Did you know that, right now, I prefer A Saucerful to Piper?

  • hjhhjij
    5 mar 12
Indeed, they are the two best of the Floyd :) in fact, Sauc is a bit underrated in my opinion... how sad is "Jugband Blues"? A magnificent lyric Syd, well done! I really love your Madcap Laughs and Barrett XD (yes, I need to stop taking those pills, but I care about Grace Slick and follow her teachings, Feed your head, only you Syd have overindulged :D)

Hahahahahaha, you also forget Let There Be More Light, Remember a Day, Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun (even though unfortunately they saw my minimal contribution). But for me, the best of Pink Floyd remains and will always be The Dark Side of the Moon :)

  • hjhhjij
    5 mar 12
Eh Syd, I haven't forgotten about it, your Slide Guitar on Remember a Day for example, but on the other tracks, no offense, you didn't really do much XD. It's kind of nice that you say you prefer an album from the post-te era, but I thought you would have chosen Wish; they openly dedicated that one to you :D. Anyway, trying to fight the trip caused by the flu and getting serious for a moment, The Dark Side is beautiful, very much so, but it remains the only Floyd album from the '70-'77 period that's not a 5-star one. For now, it bores me a bit; I fluctuate with my moods, just to be clear ;)

  • SydBarrett96
    5 mar 12
Really? For me, everything from the 70s to '77 is a 5-star. My favorites are, of course, Dark Side, Wish You Were Here, Atom Heart Mother, and Animals. A step down are Meddle and Obscured By Clouds.

  • hjhhjij
    5 mar 12
I see that you appreciate the work done by your "friends" and former colleagues after your departure from the group :) For me, the best is the one with you as the absolute leader, then the one with you part-time, then the cow, then Meddle which perhaps contains the most beautiful piece of Floyd post-te :D and then all the others ;)

Just satisfy my curiosity: how did you end up in that studio in A.Road in 1975, during the production of Wish? Did you stumble upon it by accident? Were you just eager to annoy those ungrateful pricks? Had you forgotten a guitar there in '67 and when you went back to pick it up a little late, you found them in the middle of it, exclaiming: them again? XD tell me, I'm curious!

  • SydBarrett96
    5 mar 12
Meddle, aside from Echoes and One Of These Days, I don't really see all that stuff. Well, the one with me as the absolute leader is a masterpiece (modesty aside) xD

  • hjhhjij
    5 mar 12
True, but those two are enough for me ;)

What you have with you as a leader is a milestone of psychedelia and rock overall :)

My main goal was to punch that annoying and arrogant jerk Ruggero, who had been bothering me for a while with his showboating ways and, above all, had kicked me out of the group (even though I wasn't doing well at the time). Then, I had the misfortune of meeting Uncle Dave first, who wanted to invite me to his wedding, so I had no choice but to accept. After a while, I remembered that I had left the stove on at home, so I had to run away. :D

  • hjhhjij
    5 mar 12
Ah, I get it now XD well, Ruggero is not a jerk, but you too Syd... you were quite unmanageable, huh; but Ruggero remains not an ungrateful jerk. All good then with the stove? :D

  • SydBarrett96
    5 mar 12
In the end, everything went up in smoke and I was left with little to nothing. So I decided to make myself a fresh lemonade in the face of those ungratefuls (and Ruggero). From that day on, the idea for the song "Baby Lemonade" came to me, even though it was a track released five years earlier and present on my second solo album.

It’s clear that you were so ahead of your time that you had seen what was going to happen, 5 years before! Of course, you had quite a few little trips with dear LSD.

I was too ahead of my time; sometimes I amaze myself!

Right! To hell with false modesty :D Now I would say dear Syd (the one from '96) to wrap it up or we'll get banned :D I need to take my pills, then electroshock awaits me :D

  • SydBarrett96
    5 mar 12
Okay, I think it's time. Enjoy the electroshock then! :D

Probably :D Or maybe we just ban ourselves, which I think is better XD

Really, I've heard some live bootlegs of Area (besides Are(A)zione which my father has the original :D) and it's scary. Michi Dei Rossi deserves a shout-out too; live he's a octopus.

Listen to Furio Chirico who technically puts all the Italics under the masculine.

A clap clap for Felo and another for Furio, monstrous drummer. As for the rest Syd, just one thing: how the hell did Wyatt play the drums in Sea Song, poor guy? The drummer Wyatt unfortunately ends in '73.

  • SydBarrett96
    2 may 12
Damn Hj, you’re right! Forgive me for this, I'm not worthy xD xD. Anyway, I knew that old Rob could play the drums after the accident, even if not fully. But at this point, the presence of Sea Song is quite pointless, he gave the best on drums with the Soft.

  • hjhhjij
    2 may 12
He played the percussion at full blast, unfortunately, we couldn't talk about drums anymore (who gives a damn, it even went well that he survived and created that unreachable masterpiece, a wonderful personal rebirth, the artistic peak of a monolithic rock bottom :D) Anyway, if you listen to Matching Mole or the first solo album, you can still hear him playing beautifully ;)

Anyway, I forgive you, a little mistake due to distraction happens; I don't know if Robertino forgives you though XD

Mason, poor guy, the battery is not for him. Technically speaking, however, in the realm of Fusion & Jazz there are some insane monsters, and let’s not forget legendary session musicians (Vinnie Colaiuta).
