    I recommend Yatha Sidhra and Kalackra. As for the individuals, I would say that if you don't know Deuter, you should definitely listen to him, as well as the bassist of Can, Holger Czukay, Edgar Froese, and the legendary Klaus Schulze. Regarding the rankings, for me: 1) Faust, 2) Popol Vuh, 3) Amon Duul.

    Also listen to "Electric Silence" by Dzyan, who are lesser-known, but still strong.

    Yes, I know ;) I'd rather make a general list without distinction between groups and solo artists. In fact, I'm now adding Mike Oldfield to the Progressive ranking.
