    Federer had no decent opponents, especially on fast surfaces. McEnroe was from another planet.

    ..regardless of the opponents, Federer's class is unsurpassable..perhaps not the greatest tennis player of all time, but definitely the most refined player ever to exist..and anyway, 16 I say 16 slams!!

    I completely disagree, McEnroe's touch is inimitable. He was a true artist, that one. Federer has enormous limitations at the net, never revealed because he's never faced opponents of equal caliber. Nadal is a burly blacksmith, that's the current benchmark....

    ..I also don't agree, Federer is a great player at the net with an excellent touch..the fact is that in today's "power game" tennis, it's much harder than it used to be to approach the net because you get passed so quickly you hardly notice, and therefore even Federer comes to the net less often..and anyway, it doesn't seem to me that Roger has never had worthy rivals; I mean, Djokovic, Soderling, Hewitt, Safin, Murray, even Agassi and Sampras are no slouches..https://www.debaser.it/main/Video.aspx?y=VfAcy6cjrBQ

    Agassi and Sampras were at the end of their careers, Sampras was better than Federer. Djokovic, Soderling, Hewitt, Safin, Murray are nothing. With all due respect... I don’t care about the slams won, you have to see against whom you win them. It's like saying Schumacher is the greatest driver of all time just because he won more than Senna. Each one is a champion in their own era. And this, for me, is the saddest, poorest, and most monotonous era of tennis. A bland and unwatchable tennis, without romanticism and without class.
