    I listened to the Fontains and liked them. Also liked the EP by Squid.

  Fontaines DC saved by the singer but still too one-dimensional. I think I've heard Black Midi, but faced with the tidal wave of listens, I can't recall. Altin Gun I heard a nice vaguely psychedelic track on Y.T, but then LP disappointed me with too many sounds that don't suit my taste.

    Look, in hindsight, it was an overall pretty rough year; I'm struggling to come up with 15 albums that I really liked, and I've listened to quite a few. I included Altin Gun because it's the album I listened to the most. Check out Black Midi; they've stirred up quite a hornet's nest of controversy across the Channel because they're seen as too "technical" and not visceral enough, but in my opinion, they're still worth a listen.
