Until today, I thought that the rankings from Rolling Stone were the most ridiculous thing in the music field...
I was wrong; this one beats them all...

      A valid argument?

Among dozens and dozens of insignificant albums, Superunknown #79

It stands between Dinosaur Jr and Afghan Whigs. It's not even the best of Soundgarden.

I’m annoyed at Action Park in '83; without this record, there wouldn’t be half of the post-hardcore/post-rock scene.

You are entitled to express your opinion just as I can deem it insignificant and unnecessary. Frankly, I find it rather childish to take issue with rankings simply because they do not reflect one’s tastes or opinions, as if the content of such rankings should owe the readers some truth beyond the will to categorize things by those who compile them. Mostly, it seems to me a symptom of great intellectual poverty concerning music, even more so when one is not familiar with the majority of the albums being referenced—something I have no trouble inferring without needing to be shown the contrary.

      Have a good evening.

Sorry, but what would be the point of putting your tastes down in writing if not to compare them with the tastes of others? If you're just looking for a pat on the back, it's better to keep your tastes to yourself...

In the first part of your comment, I have already responded with my previous comment, starting with "you are entitled to express your opinion," acknowledging that at the moment I publicly disclose something like this, I am aware that I am exposed to any kind of response. However, it is not written that I must welcome such responses simply because they arise from the freedom of expression of my counterpart: if someone writes me a trivial or insulting comment, I do not see why I shouldn't point it out. I don't understand why you mention "debate" when none of your comments suggest this kind of dynamic, which I am, however, very open to. So if you want to discuss my rankings with me, know that I am very open to it. In any case, it is not stated anywhere that if someone discloses something, they must necessarily engage with others. It can also be a self-referential exercise, and if it is, it is absolutely legitimate. Therefore, your question doesn't have much reason to exist for me. As for the last part of your comment, it roughly relates to what I have already written: I am not looking for any pats on the back, and I believe I have demonstrated this by not having "rejected" your comment but rather addressing the substance of what you wrote. I keep my tastes to myself if I want to keep them to myself, or I make them public if I want to make them public without having to justify them to anyone.

Look, if you had presented your ranking by saying: I love this kind of music, and these are my favorite records from those years, I would have nothing to say... I would have read it and moved on, obviously. Instead, if you make a list of what you consider to be the 100 best records of the 90s, regardless of personal preference, and make it public, I’m going to voice my opinion.

To be specific, as a big fan of rock music, I find it blasphemous not to mention Ænima by Tool (which, based on my personal taste, I would place in the first position) as one of the fundamental works of the 90s.

I take for granted that anyone engaging with this ranking assumes it is the result of personal opinions because I don't feel an obsessive need to imply that. I find it annoying as I simultaneously think it's an absolutely obvious thing. At the same time, I don't owe anyone an explanation for not having specified it just because they couldn't infer it as a given, believing I intended to provide a testimony of absolute objectivity. You can express "your" opinion whenever you want, let's be clear. I haven't contested you on that. I have contested the form and content of your argument after I expressed it, explaining my reasons to you.
Since you’re new to Debaser, I should inform you that I can't name my ranking as I please, as the system is structured around predefined labels: better/worse; album/band/movie/director/book; from the 80s/90s/2000s; etc. So I couldn't have named it in any other way.
Finally, just know that this ranking isn't as rigid regarding positions, especially since my internet routine doesn't revolve around it: this is demonstrated by the fact that some albums are missing, such as Aenema, which I prefer over many of the albums listed here.

Good ranking, but for me some pieces are missing:

Roy Montgomery, Bardo Pond, Don Caballero, Rodan, For Carnation, Gastr del Sol.

The first ones that come to mind...
