    Tell me about La Dispute.

Oh, so much! I'm biased because I love them, but for me this new album reaches levels of beauty that haven't been touched since Wildlife.

I just heard two tracks on Bandcamp... they seem much more lyrical than before, more mature... and then I heard a magnificent trumpet reminiscent of American Football... by tomorrow it will be mine!
    • Ociredef86
      15 mar 19
Yes, in Rhodonite And Grief there is the trumpet! <3

For Massimo Volume, I had great difficulties; deep lyrics but musically Noia, they stopped a long time ago.
    Surprise judgment that many share.

I have immense respect for Massimo Volume; I know many don't like them for their sound, but I don't know, I love them no matter what they do :)

a title close to my tastes, but that you consider indispensable?
    • ALFAMA
      16 mar 19
Clearly also very close to your tastes, otherwise I wouldn't stray from my world.
    • Ociredef86
      16 mar 19
But are you referring to this year or something less new? For this year, I would say that this list contains what I listen to the most right now...

If you like emo that's not overly emotional and sung-not-too-yelled, go with La Dispute... I'm listening to them now, very engaging.

      I'm drawing from the list
    • ALFAMA
      12 apr 19
I've drawn from "LP3," listened to it, re-listened to it, I like it, a band I only knew by name.
Now I'll try something else from the list.

I’ve heard a couple of tracks from "Massimo Volume" and they bored me. The film has been seen and reviewed many times; the lyrics are beautiful, but musically, I personally find them extremely dull.

Listen to the new Be Forest, released a few weeks ago, it's extraordinary for me. The Twilight Sad, their best work, and also La Dispute up there at the top, for now it's good.

      18 mar 19
I've listened to the Be Forest album a few times, but it didn't really grab me... maybe I need to give it another listen with more attention.
    • Ociredef86
      18 mar 19
Here it is, I listened to the album again. Really nice, I had listened to it so distractedly that I missed quite a few really cool tracks. Be Forest approved :D

It's nice 😉. It's really beautiful, constant tension without too many frills.

LP3...it seems to me a clear break with the past, a very catchy production...very beautiful.

I'm really enjoying it, definitely better than LP2. A little review might be on the way :D

    I also liked Sharon, I didn't know her....a very P.J.H. voice.

I have to listen to the PUP. Can you describe it and compare it in two lines?

    • Ociredef86
      18 apr 19
So, I've never really liked the PUP much, but this time, both for the lyrics and the music, they've outdone themselves. Comparisons... well, they come close to the latest by Joyce Manor, but I also hear some early 2000s pop-punk vibes and even a bit of American Football in some melodic passages.

So far, Malibu Ken is clearly superior to the others.

      18 apr 19
You know I still haven't listened to it? I've read mixed reviews, and I have a love-hate relationship with hip-hop/rap myself. Anyway, I'll catch up, thanks for the tip!

    21 apr 19
Damn, I still haven't managed to listen to even one new album this year.

    • Ociredef86
      22 apr 19
Haha! It's me who stays very updated. Then here I throw in everything; only at the end of the year do I make a more precise selection :D take inspiration if you want, listen to something that you might like.

Yes, I need to find the time (and the desire too, you know, but above all, the time)

Now I'm listening to Ioanna Gika, I'm intrigued by your definition of gothic folk and the cover also catches my eye.

      12 may 19
Beautiful voice and melodies, but I would have preferred it much less polished, with more guitars, less synth, and a rougher, darker production.
    • Ociredef86
      14 may 19
True, I agree with your thought. More guitars would have been beneficial, but it’s still a great album.

now I'm going to listen to Weyes Blood.

I don't know her. Now I'll look into it :)) thanks for the advice!
  • ALFAMA
    24 may 19
here's a piece of advice for you!
    What do you think?
Images and music, a Del disco. Even that retro beat in the end isn't so bad after all.
Let me know if you find it gross. I’d really like to finally understand if I know anything about this thing you call "Music."

    • Ociredef86
      25 may 19
But where did you find this? Surely you have great taste, there's no doubt about that. You always discover refined and unconventional artists. That said, it honestly doesn't do it for me... it didn't move me, but of course, it's just my personal taste!

Thanks anyway for the recommendation, keep shooting me artists I don't know, maybe next time you'll point out someone who really resonates with me! :D

perhaps too overtly pop for your more serious tastes
    • Ociredef86
      26 jul 19
Well, I'm not that pop actually! They remind me a lot of those vaguely psychedelic sounds from the sixties. Not bad.

Modern Mirror (released a couple of weeks ago) by Drab Majesty is driving me crazy....up there with the previous one. Give it a listen.

The first excerpt from Bat For Lashes also promises to be great...but I’m waiting to hear it all in September.

Drab Majesty felt, I didn't like them. Too too derivative for me... Bat For Lashes never explored.

      27 jul 19
Well, I tried to listen to it. The record is technically flawless, and her voice is stunning. Too bad it's all so heavy and oppressive that I couldn't get past the fourth track. Really too heavy.

this when you get into the spirit is a good work. Slightly low-fi - vaguely 90s, shady. Yes, I like it even without special effects.

I didn't know that Marcone had done this collaboration! He's coming out with a new album in October, by the way. Well, like you say, it's really a strange couple. I need to look into it more :)

I really admire your ability to listen to a ton of albums every year. I usually end up missing the best stuff and it takes me 3 to 4 years to catch up, during which I miss out on the best recent releases. Anyway, I’m very torn about your top pick! Like everyone, I have a certain affection for Radiohead, but I just can't digest Thom Yorke on his own. I have no clue where he’s heading with this album. However, since I really value your opinion, I’ll give it another listen. BAM, there you go, you got this super flattering compliment, you clever one.
