It might be because in a few days it's my birthday: not too few, but not too many (what?, but the years, right?). It might be because I'm on holiday and have more time to dedicate to the pleasures of life, like writing and reading!
It might be because last night I had a dream scented with cinnamon, caramelized sugar, hot chocolate, peach jam, lemon cake... (don't you ever dream... "scented"?) and then, there was my mother in the kitchen! Wow, my mother is a great cook!!!
It might be because "Semel in anno licet insanire"... and I, to be insane, go insane well (I already think I'm a bit daft... and also ...crazy): Mr. Alzheimer is a great character, sometimes intrusive, but... oh well, he's quite the cool guy!!!
Clearly, now I'm reviewing the book, I haven't forgotten: it was 1950 (wow, I always fall right back there!) when someone, no one knows exactly who, had the fantastic idea of enclosing in a book thousands of recipes from "high" to "low" cuisine, passing through "medium", with amazing intuition, indeed the book became a best seller in its genre! Millions of copies sold worldwide, translated even into Chinese...
Numerous updated editions have been published, with photos and new recipes: a little gem! Millions of young brides have put it on their wedding list (not me, but I knew how not to starve!); my mother-in-law has an original edition and woe to those who even look at it...
Now, imagine that the latest version is for iPhone, I'm not kidding... it's absolutely true! Great idea: the narrated recipe!!!
In short, what to say, it's not a fantasy book (even though sometimes you really need imagination to follow it!), it's not an adventure book (even though sometimes it's quite an adventure to get to the end of the recipe!), it's not a thriller (even though sometimes whoever tastes the recipe will be seized by terror!): in short, it's a book non-classifiable, unique in its genre! I have nothing more to say about the book: it presents itself and I can't spoil it (!?!).
Thank you, I'm ArciSure that out of courtesy and politeness you would continue to read, but I don't want to "...abutere patientiae vostrae...": my personal birthday gift, I just gave it to myself, by writing this sweet, nostalgic, irreverent memory of my childhood!
DeBaseriani (I certainly hope there are more than one of you!): Bon Appétit!
