Review:
Dense and smoky fog envelops the listener who ventures into this third effort by Earthride. "Vampire Circus," under the Southern Lord label (a niche label that is increasingly synonymous with originality), is a mix of stoner doom and Sabbathian riffs, perfectly blended and made unmistakable by Dave Sherman's (Wretched) vocal performance, which, recalling the Motorhead school (Lemmy), makes the sound even cruder and more incisive.
Right from the opening track "Fighting The Devil Inside Of You", you are transported through feedback and guitar distortions into the universe evoked by the band, well represented by murky and putrid sounds coming from the darkest of cellars.
Spare and dry riffs and raucously alcoholic vocals, are the explosive mix of these 10 tracks for a total of over forty minutes of music. Take the extraordinary distorted and visionary psychedelia of Kyuss combined with the gloominess of Black Sabbath, and you will surely love songs like "Vampire Circus" or "Dirtnap" with even touches of Deep Purple-esque keyboard flavor.
"Loss", the seventh track of the album, brings to mind elements present in Phil Anselmo's Down (Pantera), due to its chords and riffing, which, in its repetitiveness and staticity, finds its reason to exist.
The production, intentionally dirty, enhances the gloominess of the sound, giving the right depth to an honest and well-played album.
Listening is not recommended, but mandatory.

Dave moans like a damn sticky cross between the hoarseness of Lemmy and Phil Anselmo, articulating muscle contractions, spasms, paranoid thoughts.
Doom is as withered as the tits of an old witch who has given too much to too many. Stoner lives on old ghosts and new distorters.
