Third album and third big hit for Duran Duran who, after two splendid works, successfully manage to shrewdly calibrate their mix once again.
Last high-level work before being stunned by the deafening screams of the fans. The Reflex and New Moon On Monday open, close, and revisit. Rodhes (Nick, not Cecil) moves nervously until freezing while the three Taylor turn the room upside down. There are no trees to cover the rough tributes of the audience in the hall, so Le Bon pushes further forward to better baste the songs.
Shadows on Your Side reveals itself as a splendid song, catchy but without complacency, Of Crime And Passion is tight and pleasantly pared down.
Once again, Duran Duran indulge in luxuries that only they know how to bring back.
The band I am talking about is DURAN DURAN, a band that I think is underrated and known by many in the '80s only because the musicians were handsome, but I don’t care a blessed ... about that side.
For those who consider them musically lame, try to go beyond that and focus on their talent and professionalism, and I would say you won’t regret it, I assure you.
"Seven people chasing success. It’s ambition."
"The Reflex... proving to be a true big hit, thanks also to the remix conceived and realized by Nile Rodgers."
