"I Lose, You Win"
Like in a five-player briscola game, ready to call the shots.
"Crossover" is the third full-length album by the Texan band, dated 1987. There was still enough fuel here, a lot of rage, but above all, a lot of arrogance, the kind that leads directly to confrontation. Artistically significant violence. The Dirty Rotten Imbecilles are straightforward musicians, zero hypocrisy, resentful people, proud, overtly proud, but alive, with all their damned whys. They are the southern folk of America, but not the narrow-minded ones, rather the ones with the "mind your own business". People of bread and vengeance, but unabashedly declared. Coarse, yet refined in coining a name for an open genre that can mean anything. A transgender is crossover. Charles Mingus is crossover. The Minotaur is crossover. They made music for thrashers who skateboard. Horns penetrating helmets. Kill 'em All listened to while going down a ramp.
So, purse your lips, shake your head ever so slightly, and slam onto the ground trying to pull off a trick. Even rubbing against the cement ultimately makes you grow.
"You fucked me over"
"No, I'm not so quick to forget"
"I live for revenge"
"The five-year plan"
"I win, you lose"
"I win!"
Yes, they win.
