I have always been a deep admirer of D.R.I.; their spirit and their "rudeness" have always energized me when listening to them, but "Four of a Kind" was a bit of a disappointment.

In fact, when putting on this album, the pounding songs and medium-fast rhythms are acceptable, but they fail to fully engage the listener. First of all, the tracks seem slightly underwhelming, the guitars don't scratch, the riffs and flourishes of the songs are too similar to each other, so much so that the songs are not easily memorable once the album is over.

Honestly, I can't find real flaws in "Four of a Kind," but I don't feel like praising D.R.I. for this album either, considering they've left behind better albums, making this work that remains a question mark for their fans.

The shift to Thrash Metal here is clear, perhaps too foundational, putting them on a path that doesn't fully identify them. Nevertheless, the album is played perfectly and is also a good showcase for Brecht, whose voice seems to be the only strong point of the entire work. The best song on the album is certainly "Goone to Long" which, having tighter rhythms and a much more appealing structure than the other tracks, manages to stand out during the listen.

This is not an attack on D.R.I., but this "Four of a Kind" I just can't understand it.
