Here I am. So first of all, A Dramatic Turn Of Events is a CD shaped like a circle, with a diameter of several millimeters and not very thick, with the hole in the middle typical of many things such as, for example, CDs themselves, successful donuts, and ozone. In short, nothing different from the other Dream Theater CDs which were also CDs, and fortunately because probably if it had been different, who knows, maybe bigger, then it wouldn't even have fit into the CD player and if instead, it had been smaller, then it would have been inferior to the other CDs, which in comparison would have been, allow me the expression, big.

Instead, this CD has all the credentials to be considered a CD in every respect, to the delight of all fans who cannot afford giant CD players: once again, therefore, Myung and company do not disappoint. Another fantastic thing about this CD is that it has a package that we will call 'package 1', and a fantastic thing about 'package 1' is that it was in turn packaged by a transparent plastic that we will call 'package 2', essential so that in the store 'package 1' was preserved from scratches and fingerprints of metalheads who notoriously have dirty hands and rings, and prog metalheads who notoriously have dirty hands and rings, but prog.

'Package 2' bored me a bit: even though I could appreciate the really excellent quality of the smooth transparent plastic, it seemed like the usual workmanship from our guys; beautiful, transparent, smooth, but too room temperature. 'Package 1', on the other hand, represents a novelty in the discography of Myung and company as it is different from those of other CDs: it would have been impossible to make it the same as the others because all differ, denoting the great creativity of our guys, so at most they could have made it the same as another one, but they wanted to amaze us once again; thus, inside 'package 2', we find the more classic openable rigid transparent plastic package, which still marks a point of continuity with the tradition of Dream Theater CDs and all CDs of all singers in the world that make them exactly like that, and also the same size: think about it, if they had made it smaller the CD wouldn't have fit inside, and then they would have had to invent a package that we will call 'package 3' to contain the excess part of the CD, which would have been very prog and consequently would have been terrible.

If instead, they had made it bigger, then first of all one might have thought that the CD couldn't be contained in their standard CD player and perhaps not being able to afford a giant CD player would have given up on the purchase, and then there's the fact that 'package 2' would have been too small and would have broken and would have needed a package in turn transparent but larger, which we will call 'package 4', which would have been an absolute novelty for Dream Theater who in this sense did not have the courage to dare and disappoint their hardcore supporters to conquer new fan bases even among the younger ones.

Returning to 'package 1', on top there are English writings different from those of other Dream Theater CDs, except for the one that says the CD is by Dream Theater, otherwise if that were different too I would have mistaken the artist's name and it would have been something else, that is, another artist, because if it was written Iron Maiden that would have been an Iron Maiden CD, then how do you explain to an Iron Maiden fan that inside there are Dream Theater? They would be disappointed. At most, one is lucky if they are both metalhead and prog metalhead because they get a prog metal CD with a metal package and metal writings. Anyway, as I was saying, in 'package 1' there is the usual 'Dream Theater' writing and other writings in English and then a very emblematic drawing, perhaps too emblematic. Emblematic to the point that if one doesn't understand anything about emblems they might find themselves thinking "what is this crap?". Another fantastic thing about this CD is that it is one of those CDs that have music inside, unlike many other CDs which do not but have other things. Now I will describe the songs, placing the title of the respective song next to its description. Have fun!

-On the Backs of Angels is the first song of the CD and lasts less than ten minutes, which might lead you to think that it is short in relation to something that lasts much longer, but also long in relation to something that lasts much less (than the song) or of medium duration compared to something that lasts much less (than the something that lasts much longer (than the song)) or always of medium duration compared to something that lasts much longer (than the something that lasts much less (than the song)).

-Build Me Up, Break Me Down comes after the previous song, but that doesn't mean you should consider it less beautiful or less bad, also because it still comes before some songs that, by definition, come after.

The other tracks follow with different durations until the end, but now I have to go out as I have things to do, I want to however close with a sensation ensuring me thus the 5, the little heart, and the little star: this CD was lent to me, and to you?

‘Breaking All Illusion’ ... can be considered not only the best song on the album but rather the best Dream Theater song at least since ‘Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence.’

‘A Dramatic Turn Of Events’ … instills new life in a darker and more reflective sound than usual, although never as leaden as in ‘Train Of Thought.’

Just as we were entering the hall, in front of the official ticket ripper, I realize I don’t have them anymore!

And here ends my DRAMATIC TURN OF EVENTS, for that night.

"‘A Dramatic Turn Of Events’ is the best album written by Dream Theater in many (and many) years."

"For fans, the album will be like a breath of fresh air taken in a mountain village, after breathing the smog of a chaotic and noisy metropolis."

By seppe76

"A Dramatic Turn Of Events is once again technicality in the service of melody, it is assault and surrealism, wonder and dynamism, reflection and abandonment."

"Dream Theater wanted to send a strong and decisive signal ... they are still one of the most fascinating realities in the world, still capable of captivating and involving."

Without exaggerating, the D.T. with this album ... opened my eyes.

It’s as if they discovered a new musical note to insert in the score, thus paving the way for countless evolutions for the future of all musical genres.
