The Down are one of the "thousand" new bands of sir Phil Anselmo, and this album also marks the entrance of another former Pantera member, bassist Rex.
The genre proposed by Down could, I dare say, be considered southern rock influenced mainly by bands like Black Sabbath (particularly for the guitar riffs). Definitely very impactful, this album shows a Phil Anselmo much more comfortable with his singing compared to the later times of Pantera, and I dare say, loaded with that decadent charm which is then reflected in the album's music.
Tracks like New Orleans Is A Dying Whore certainly do not go unnoticed and are, indeed, pieces of noteworthy craftsmanship.
The recording quality of the album, I would dare say, is perfect, and if it weren't for a few episodes not executed perfectly, the album flows smoothly in listening.
