Down is an American sludge/southern metal supergroup from New Orleans fronted by Phil Anselmo with members including Pepper Keenan, Kirk Windstein, Jimmy Bower and (on some records) Rex Brown / Todd Strange. Formed in 1991, the band is known for heavy, Sabbath-influenced riffs and Southern-tinged doom/sludge.

Hats off, of course, to the musicians, especially the two guitarists, capable of crafting riffs smelling of Sabbath, metallic outbursts stopped and rhythmic, ominous arpeggios, and hallucinated solos.
